We had a time last night! We kicked off Juneteenth with an evening of Bingo and lots of prizes. Thanks to our generous donors we we're able to give out free artwork, gift cards worth $5-$156 (anyone that doesn't want their $50 Wal-Mart gift card we can use it 😉).

We hope some attends are able to purchase necessities, food or something you've been wanting for a while.

We started off with musical bingo, then traditional bingo and human bingo. Over 60 people showed up to celebrate freedom, resistance and community with us. Thank you to our donors for making this celebration possible.

Guess what? We're doing Open Mic Night 🎤 tonight and we're looking for poets, musicians, comedians and spectators as well! Content shared must be PG-13.

The event is from 6 PM - 8 PM at 405 MLK Blvd. Refreshments will be provided. This opportunity is free and open to the public. We've got more giveaways today!

East Lubbock Art House (ELAH) is currently accepting artworks for consideration for the upcoming art exhibition, "Q***r Voices". 💕

This art exhibition will explore identity, love, q***r expression and joy. We are looking for artworks that showcase community, and bold--honest, unapologetic q***r perspectives.

Artists living within a 150-mile radius of ELAH may submit up to 3 pieces for consideration. Artworks can be for sale and not for sale. Open to artists of all ages.

ELAH takes a 30% commission on all art sales within our space.

Artworks must meet these guidelines:
- Must be original artworks
- Artworks must be under 48" inches in any direction
- Artworks must be PG-13.
- NO lude, offensive, or discriminatory artworks will be accepted.
- All media is accepted (e.g.: photography, painting, drawing, film, collage, mixed-media, sculpture, fiber arts, book arts, ceramics, etc--the sky'sthe limit)
- Be ready to display by the time of artwork drop-off

🏳️‍🌈 Deadline to submit artwork for consideration: Tuesday, June 30th @ 11:59 PM CST

Art show dates:
Opening Reception: Sat, July 10th from 5 PM - 7 PM
Show Dates: 07/11 - 07/31

Notification of artwork acceptance or rejection: July 1st by 11 p.m.
Artwork drop-off dates: 07/02, 07/03, or 07/05 (DO NOT DROP OFF ART BEFORE RECIEVEING AN ART SHOW ACCEPTANCE EMAIL)

🩷 It's that time of year again! 🙌🏿 And it's Danielle -- the Executive Director of East Lubbock Art House and it's my birthday month next month (July aka Leo season)!

For my birthday and the last year of my 20's I would love for everyone who is able to get a ticket or tickets to my B-Day Bash ♡ Celebrating 6 Years of ELAH.

Come celebrate my 29th birthday and 6 incredible years of ELAH. What started as a dream 😎 has grown into a community-centered space for art, learning, connection, and creativity. Join us for an evening of celebration as we reflect on six years of impact and help build the future of ELAH.

Last month our Community Art Class at Windmill Village was a piece of cake 🎂 🥮

We created mini fake cakes that looked good enough to eat. The cakes aoubled as storage boxes to hold jewelry, trinkets or a gift. Check out a few of them that were created.

Interested in helping out at the next art class with our neighbors at Windmill Village Nursing Home and Rehabilitation?

Join us tomorrow, June 12th from 2 p.m. - 4 p.m. at 507 MLK Blvd next door to East Lubbock Art House (NOT EAST LUBBOCK ART HOUSE)! We will be hosting a Juneteenth Art Event.

Volunteers are needed to help with setup, clean up, passing out snacks and supplies and assisting some residents with the activities. No age requirements and no registration required.

We're so excited to be showcasing Alexis Sargent's work for the month of June! And we already have our first patron who will be taking home one of the pieces in the current exhibition, "The Throne Within". 🌹

Did we mention Alexis is also expecting? 🤰🏾 We're also excited for her in her journey and the best artwork always comes from our artist mommies 💗

Our last Sunday evening Community Art Class we hosted a Found Object Sculptures class 👏🏾 💗

Everyone was invited to create a sculpture in the round using random objects we've been collecting at ELAH. We also held an "end of semester" critique that allowed student artists to discuss what they created, why, and their process.

Check out their process and what they created in under 2 hours.

Data shows that community art classes significantly improve mental well-being, reduce isolation, and strengthen neighborhood cohesion.
