SOS In so doing, SOS succeeds in improving healthcare for the poor and underserved around the world, including in our own region.

SOS improves healthcare access for those in need locally and around the world by collecting surplus medical supplies from healthcare systems and using the items to save lives rather than going into landfills. SOS is a Louisville, KY based humanitarian aid organization that promotes global health, environmental stewardship, and community awareness through the efficient recovery and responsible distribution of surplus medical supplies and equipment. SOS is one of only 7 accredited medical surplus recovery organizations in the U.S.

A container of health and hope is on its way to Cuba. 💚

This week we sent over $333,000 worth of essential medical supplies and equipment, as well as more than 70,000 meals from Love the Hungry to help address critical food needs.

Conditions in Cuba are increasingly difficult, with prolonged power outages, food shortages and hospitals struggling to access essential supplies. This shipment will help support healthcare providers and communities facing urgent needs.

Thanks to our generous donors and partners, these resources are getting a second life.

🏥 A serious lung condition was keeping this baby in the hospital.

❤️‍🩹 She needed an oxygen concentrator and a few other medical supplies in order to sustain care in the comfort of her family's home.

✈️ We received a request for the supplies and sent them to Senegal as quickly as we could.

❤️ There's no better feeling than delivering hope, and your donated medical supplies make that possible.

This is why we do what we do. 💚

Thanks to a connection from the wonderful Dr. Behrman with UofL’s Pediatric Neuro-Recovery Program at UofL Health - Frazier Rehabilitation Institute, we were able to provide a wheelchair for Jennifer N.’s son—giving him greater mobility, comfort and independence.

One wheelchair may seem like a simple piece of equipment, but for a family caring for a loved one with significant needs, it can make a life-changing difference.

We’re grateful to be part of a community where doctors, families, donors and SOS come together to turn needed medical equipment into real impact for real people. 💚

A huge thank you to UPS! 💚

A team of volunteers from UPS recently rolled up their sleeves at SOS to help tackle a massive syringe-sorting project. Their hard work helped bring the project across the finish line—getting essential medical supplies sorted, packed and ready to reach communities in need around the world.

We’re so grateful to the UPS team for giving their time, energy and heart to SOS. Your service makes a difference far beyond our warehouse! 🌎

🏥 Nursing class supply kits composed of consumable items were costing KCTCS students between $300-$600 per semester.

📚 Dr. Amber Carter, the Dean of Health Professions at KCTCS, reached out to SOS in hopes that there was a way to reduce costs for students.

❤️ This is one of the amazing ways we can come together to reduce medical waste, and create hope for future generations!

We’re proud to see SOS supplies supporting Aid Via Action’s medical missions in Guatemala, where dedicated medical teams provide critical surgical care to patients in need.

Since 2023, AVA has completed 10 mission trips to Hospital Nacional de San Benito, and the work continues to expand.

It’s a powerful reminder that a donated medical supply can travel far — and make a real difference. 💚
