Salesian Family Youth Center of Los Angeles We are the Salesian Family Youth Center, no longer affiliated with the Boys and Girls Club! Every year we serve over 2,800 undeserved youth.

For over 45 years we have been serving the Boyle Heights & East LA community and creating young leaders! We are the Salesian Boys & Girls Club of Los Angeles! Every year we serve over 2,000 undeserved youth.

About 10 high school students became published authors. 📖

Through the Solutions program, they wrote "Beyond the Heights" — a book about their lives and what it means to be a teenager today. They then traveled to a conference in Chicago to share their stories, join workshops and connect with young people from other cultures.

Every young person has a story worth telling. We're proud to help them tell it.

This month, administration and program leaders at the Salesian Family Youth Center met to take youth leadership to the next level. Our director JC Montenegro shared a vision: a team of young consultants and advisors who will help guide our decisions, our direction and our future.

Listening to young people has always been at the heart of the Salesian mission. Now we're giving that listening a structure.

🌎✨ SPREADING SALESIAN JOY AT THE CATHEDRAL! 💙🙏

A heartfelt THANK YOU to the Archdiocese of Los Angeles Mission Office for inviting us last Wednesday to share the Salesian mission at the Cathedral of Our Lady of the Angels! ⛪

Following the beautiful Mass, we had the wonderful opportunity to meet hundreds of children from Catholic elementary schools, sharing Don Bosco T-shirts, backpacks, candy, prizes, and, most importantly, the joy of the Salesian spirit! 🎒👕🍬

Our little Salesian corner was filled with smiles, laughter, and excitement as we encouraged children to discover Don Bosco, learn about our mission, and perhaps one day become Salesian missionaries themselves! 🌍❤️

Growing Together, Strengthening Our Salesian Mission!

Yesterday, we had a wonderful Salesian Family Youth Center

Board of Directors meeting via Zoom.

Over the years, our Center has continued to grow in programs, organizational structure, financial sustainability, and community impact.
During our meeting, we reviewed our Annual Report, Summer Camp Report, financial performance and projections, and exciting upcoming initiatives:

• College visits and a potential youth mission trip to Tijuana.

Our Thanksgiving Dinner and Christmas celebrations, encouraging our children to experience the joy of giving and serving others.

Our international Salesian Volunteers: Adrián Chávez, serving for one year, and three young women arriving from Italy for 11 months of missionary service.

Our upcoming SFYC Gala on February 27, 2027!

Special thanks to Miriam Hernandez, Rigoberto Vazquez, Juan Carlos Portillo, and evelin moreno, for their leadership and commitment, and to JC Montenegro, PhD, Christina Mendoza and Juana Rodriguez for presenting our Annual and Summer Camp Reports.

Thank you to our interns Kimberly Fabian Marquez and Grace Marmo.

We are not just growing programs; we are building a stronger organization and creating more opportunities for young people to belong, grow, serve, and lead!

Together, we continue Don Bosco's mission of forming good Christians and honest citizens.

🌎💙 WELCOME TO OUR SALESIAN MISSIONARY FAMILY! 🙌✨

We are excited to welcome three new Salesian Missionary Volunteers who will soon become part of our Salesian Family Youth Center community! 💙

Last Friday, we had the wonderful opportunity to meet with them via Zoom for a training and orientation session as we prepare for their arrival in mid-November! 📲🌟

These three amazing young women will spend approximately 11 months living, serving, and sharing life with us, supporting our children, youth, and families through the Salesian mission. ❤️

A special THANK YOU to Br. Al for his guidance, dedication, and support in making this missionary journey possible and helping young adults turn their missionary dreams into reality! 🙏

We can’t wait to welcome you to Boyle Heights and begin this beautiful journey together!

✨ Once Salesian, Always Salesian! 💙❤️

What a wonderful Sunday afternoon! 🎉

This past Sunday, some of our young adults from the Salesian Youth Group, along with staff members from the Salesian Family Youth Center, had the joy of attending the St. Bridget Parish Gala! 🥂

We enjoyed delicious new dishes, reconnected with members of our extended Salesian Family, shared laughter, and, most importantly, strengthened the bonds that make our Salesian community so special. ❤️

🌟 Being Salesian doesn’t end when you turn 18, graduate from high school, or receive the Sacrament of Confirmation. These milestones are not the end of your journey; they are the beginning of something even greater! Our Salesian Family is a lifelong home where we continue to belong, grow, serve, and lead.

🤝 We were especially happy to support St. Bridget Parish because they generously support our own gala every year. That’s what being a family is all about: showing up for one another!

Sometimes young people never get the chance to speak up. That's why the Salesians are creating spaces where they can. 🎤

JC invites our youth to share their feedback so the Salesian community can carry their voices to where they need to go.

Four community leaders visited the SFYC with one message: don't be ashamed of your past. 💪

Whether it was poverty, domestic abuse, addiction, or other things outside their control, they turned those experiences into strength. They shaped who they are today, and that is someone to be proud of.
