PUENTE Learning Center provides high-quality education for children, youth, and adult students in Boyle Heights and beyond.

Building bridges to opportunity since 1985. We offer preschool, charter elementary school, college and career programs, adult education, community services, and much more. Our mission is embodied in our name, PUENTE, which stands for People United to Enrich the Neighborhood Through Education.

Yesterday, we proudly celebrated the graduation of our 5th grade class! ✨🎓

Our hearts are full after celebrating this group of students! Many of these students were part of the very first PUENTE Preschool class. These students have grown into kind, creative, and determined students that we are so proud of.

We look forward to continuing to see them thrive in this next exciting chapter of their academic journey. Congratulations Class of 2026! 💙

Last week, our College & Career team joined MSTMA seniors at Roosevelt High School for Decision Day, recognizing the exciting next steps ahead for the Class of 2026. 🎓✨

We were also proud to celebrate and announce this year's PUENTE Scholarship recipients.

Congratulations to our scholarship winners and to all graduating seniors as they begin their next chapter. Your hard work, dedication, and achievements inspire us all! 💙

Emily dreamed of going to college but didn’t know how to get there alone.

Through our College & Career Program, Emily received one-on-one guidance, application support, and college readiness resources that helped her pursue her future with confidence. Now, she's headed to Chapman University with scholarships covering nearly all her tuition.

Congratulations to Brandow & Johnston and Berliner Architects on receiving the 2026 Structural Engineering Excellence Award from the Structural Engineers Association of Southern California (SEAOSC) for the PUENTE Learning Center seismic retrofit project.

We’re proud that the PUENTE Learning Center was recognized as part of this achievement — a reflection of the importance of investing in safe, resilient spaces where our students, families, and community can continue to learn and thrive for generations to come.

Ana’s story in our last annual report is one of resilience and rediscovery.

When she first arrived in the U.S., she faced the challenge of building a life for her family while navigating limited English and putting her own goals on hold. Over time, with support from PUENTE, she found the confidence to pursue her own education—strengthening her English, working toward her high school diploma, and becoming an active leader in her community of Boyle Heights.

Stories like Ana’s are just as powerful today as the day we shared them. They’re a reminder that this work is ongoing, and the impact continues every single day.
