URGENT APPEAL: ATTORNEY NEEDED TO HELP A GRIEVING FAMILY
Mothers Against Murder (MAM) is urgently seeking a compassionate California attorney who is willing and available to help us stand for victims' rights, the family of 18-year-old, who was tragically killed.
This is an extraordinarily painful situation that unfortunately is ending up in probate court.
Victim and his family grew up in the Catholic faith.
The Father wants to have a traditional Catholic burial—a permanent place where he, his family and friends visit the victim, pray for him, and continue to grieve.
The Mother wants cremation.
The father was prepared to work toward a peaceful compromise with the Mother. He initially accepted cremation, if there could be an appropriate burial of ashes and a permanent place for the family to visit him.
Instead, an ex-parte application will be filed tomorrow by Mother's attorney seeking a court order requiring cremation.
The father and grandparents are devastated and feel overwhelmed by a legal process they didn't expect or wish to face while grieving the violent death.
The Father needs an attorney who understands family law, probate/decedent disposition issues, or related California law, and ideally, someone who understands the importance of Catholic burial traditions and the profound emotional significance of having a permanent place to lay a loved one to rest.
We have been working directly with this family, providing advocacy, emotional support, guidance, and assistance navigating systems that have been overwhelming them since this tragic incident. We are willing to cover a reasonable attorney fee to stand with our client in court.
This Father should not have to face a legal battle alone, neither should he go into further debt simply because he cannot afford an attorney. The cost of burial the Father contracted for is more than $32,000.
We are appealing to the legal community—not for a fight, but for fairness, compassion, and an opportunity for this family to be heard.
If you are a California attorney with relevant experience who may be willing to help us, please contact me directly at (650) 248-9529. Mothers Against Murder - MAM is willing to cover reasonable legal cost.
Time is extremely limited. Ex-Parte filed tomorrow means court on Thursday.
The 18-year-old deserves to be laid to rest with dignity. His mother deserves compassion and the right to be heard, no different than his father and the grandparent who have always been intimately involved in their grandchildren's lives. In fact, the family lived with the grandparents for the first 16 years, until the parents divorced. The 18-year-old was back living with his father and grandparents when this tragic incident happened.
