Despite this, much of this history has been overlooked. Let’s recognize the origins, honor the influence, and give credit where it’s due.

Rooted in the experiences of enslaved Africans in the South, these dishes were created through resilience, creativity, and tradition. Over time, soul food has become a symbol of connection, bringing families and communities together while preserving culture across generations. Today, it continues to represent identity, strength, and heritage. Let’s honor the history behind soul food and the traditions that continue to live on.
