Los Alamos teens and their families are invited to an open house celebration of El Día de los Mu***os and introduction to FSN's teen grief group, The Space Between.
Our special guest, high school Spanish teacher Maria Romero, will be hosting a community altar (ofrenda) for remembering our lost loved ones. Everyone is welcome to bring a photo or other item representing their loss to add to the ofrenda.
The Space Between facilitators Kristine Coblentz and Rumi Sauñe will be there to talk about the teen grief group and answer any questions people may have.
In addition to the community altar, we will have a sample of activities for people to see. We hope that this open house will help people understand the importance of cultural celebrations, having a space for active grieving, and the value of going through that process with community support.
An added bonus of attending this open house: The Family YMCA - Los Alamos, NM will be offering discounted entry - only $10! - for their upcoming Día de los Mu***os Run to Remember 5K for any teens and their adults that attend our open house! Big thanks to the Y for their generosity.
The open house will be on Thursday, October 29th from 6-7:30 pm at Family Strengths Network - 3540 Orange St. Please join us at any time!
