First Born Program of Los Alamos a nonprofit organization that provides free home visiting to parents and primary caregivers, prenatally until the child turns 5 years old

FBPLA provides free home visitation services to all families parenting in Los Alamos County. Services may be requested at any time during pregnancy, at the birth of the baby, or until the baby is two months of age, and continue until the child is three years of age (36 months), or until the family no longer requests program services. At the program’s core is the conviction that a healthy pregnancy and a healthy baby are not only critical to the immediate well-being of mother and child but are also integral to the long-term health and success of the family and community. The program curricula provide a comprehensive set of topics that families learn as well as specific tools, activities, and educational materials that home visitors can use to address them. The flexible and inclusive curricula can be adapted to each family’s needs. For more information or to inquire about services, please email [email protected].

Today is Pregnancy and Infant Loss Remembrance Day. First Born holds space for every family carrying a love the world didn’t get to see. No matter how early the loss or how quiet the grief, your pain is real.

Every year on this day, people around the world light a candle at 7pm (in their time zone) to honor and remember all the babies that left this world far too soon. As each time zone join, it creates the International Wave of Light. We invite all to remember today.

Last week PEEC joined us during our team meeting to share what they’ve been up to!

Did you know that PEEC serves almost 35,000 people per year and most of those people live in Los Alamos County and are parents with young children?

If you haven’t been to PEEC now might be your time! They host Nature Playtime every Monday morning from 10-11am. This event is for children of all ages! They even see newborns!

PEEC also hosts a planetarium show every Wednesday at 4pm and Birding with Bob on Wednesday mornings from 10am-12pm, a good opportunity to talk with some locals about the birds in our area!
