Soroptimist Loomis Basin Join in the fun with the Loomis Basin club! The name, Soroptimist, means "best for women," and that's what the organization strives to achieve.

Soroptimist is a global volunteer organization that provides women and girls with access to the education and training they need to achieve economic empowerment, especially those facing significant obstacles. Soroptimist is an international organization for business and professional women who work to improve the lives of women and girls, in local communities and throughout the world. Over 80,000 S

oroptimists in about 120 countries and territories contribute time and financial support to community–based and international projects that benefit women and girls. Soroptimists are women at their best, working to help other women to be their best. Soroptimist members belong to local clubs, which determine the focus of volunteer work to their communities. Club projects range from renovating domestic violence shelters and providing mammograms to low-income women, to sponsoring self-esteem workshops for teenage girls. In addition, Soroptimists participate in organization-wide programs including the Soroptimist Women's Opportunity Awards, Soroptimist Club Grants for Women and Girls, the Soroptimist Workplace Campaign to End Domestic Violence, the Soroptimist Violet Richardson Award and Soroptimists STOP Trafficking. Soroptimist also sponsors Live Your Dream.org, an online community empowering offline volunteer action. The self-motivated network is made up of people who wish to support women and girls in their quest to lead better lives, while gaining inspiration in their own lives. Members of the free online community work on topics such as women’s economic empowerment, ending violence against women, human trafficking, and more. They also have access to inspirational articles, tips, and blogs that can help them live their own personal dreams.

What a wonderful morning at Placer Elementary School!

A heartfelt thank you to Ms. Lopez for inviting our members into her Third Grade classroom. Through a Loomis Soroptimist teacher grant, Ms. Lopez was able to purchase hands-on fraction tool kits that are bringing math concepts to life for her students.

It was a joy to see the students actively engaged, learning, collaborating and having fun with the interactive fraction card games. Their enthusiasm was contagious, and it was clear that these tools are making a meaningful difference in the classroom.

We are grateful for the warm welcome from both the students and Ms. Lopez. Visits like this remind us why we invest in education and support our local schools.

Seeing our grant dollars at work—and witnessing students gain confidence and skills through hands-on learning—puts the Soroptimist vision in action: Women and girls have the resources and opportunities to reach their full potential and live their dreams.

Thank you, Ms. Lopez, for what you do every day to inspire young learners!

Congratulations to Skylar, recipient of this year’s Loomis Soroptimist Dream It, Be It Award (DIBI)! She was recognized at the Confluence West High School year-end awards ceremony for her outstanding participation in DIBI and commitment to personal and academic growth.

Loomis Soroptimist Awards Committee Chair Elizabeth presented Skylar with a Chromebook™ to support her future educational endeavors. Throughout the Dream It, Be It program, Skylar was fully engaged and embraced the opportunity to explore her goals and aspirations. She shared that the program helped her identify both academic and career pathways for her future.

During the ceremony, lead teacher Morgan recognized Soroptimist’s Dream It, Be It program and thanked our club for three years of partnership and dedication to empowering young women at the school.

We are proud of Skylar and grateful for the opportunity to work alongside Morgan and Confluence West in helping young women build the confidence, skills and support they need to achieve their dreams.
