Happy Global Peer Support Celebration Day. We work with some amazing peers across East Texas, and we cannot support our Veterans without the support from our fellow peers across east texas.
So thank you to them all.

Key Details

• Date: Celebrated annually on the third Thursday of October (Thursday, October 15, 2026).
• Origin: Conceived in 2014 by Dan O'Brien-Mazza at an iNAPS (International Association of Peer Supporters) conference.
• Core Purpose: Recognizes individuals with personal or familial lived experience with mental health, substance use, or trauma challenges who use their journeys to guide and empower others.
• Common Traditions:
• Wearing green to support mental health awareness
• Wearing purple to support addiction recovery.

Why Peer Support Matters

Research and community programs show that peer support provides unique benefits:
• Improves quality of life, self-efficacy, and whole-health management
• Decreases emergency room visits and hospitalizations
• Reduces mental health symptoms and lowers the overall cost of care
• Builds trust and community by proving that "lived and living experience is expertise"

Please join us on Friday, November 6th, at 9:00 a.m. as we express our gratitude and pride for the men and women who have served, sacrificed, and inspired.
