🏳️🌈 Happy Pride Month from Indivisible East Texas Alliance! 🏳️🌈
One of the most fundamental human rights is liberty.
Liberty cannot be reserved for some while denied to others. When rights are limited to a select few, that isn't liberty—it is power.
Every freedom we cherish as Americans belongs to all Americans.
This Pride Month, we proudly stand with our LGBTQ+ friends, neighbors, family members, coworkers, and fellow patriots. You are loved. You are valued. You belong.
We will continue to defend your freedom to be who you are, love whom you love, and live openly and authentically without fear.
Some ask, "Why Pride?"
Because for far too long, LGBTQ+ people have faced shame, discrimination, exclusion, harassment, violence, and persecution. Many were forced to hide who they were simply to stay safe. Many were denied opportunities, denied dignity, denied equal treatment, and denied the freedom to fully participate in society.
Pride exists because shame was imposed for generations.
And the consequences are real. According to The Trevor Project's 2025 national survey, more than one-third of LGBTQ+ young people seriously considered su***de in the past year, and 1 in 10 attempted su***de.
The research also found that supportive and accepting communities dramatically reduce those risks.
That is why acceptance matters.
That is why visibility matters.
That is why Pride matters.
At IETA, we believe every person deserves liberty, justice, dignity, and equal protection under the law. We believe our communities are stronger when everyone is free to contribute their talents, share their gifts, and live as their authentic selves.
We are proud to call LGBTQ+ people our friends, neighbors, family, and fellow Americans. You make our communities better. You make our movement stronger. And you help move our nation closer to the promise of a more perfect union.
There is still work to do.
In pursuit of a freer, kinder, and more just future, we will always stand with those who choose love over hate, inclusion over exclusion, and liberty for all.
