Car-Lite Long Beach invites you to join the 2026 Ride of Silence, a memorial event occurring all over the world every year.

2025 had 56 deaths in Long Beach due to traffic violence. The most in over 30 years.

2026 has had 22 deaths since January 1. Right now, we're on track to exceed last year's death toll.

The violence is systemic, the culture is apathetic, and our environment is deadly. We need this to change.

Join us as we fight for visibility, respect, and our right to exist by walking and riding with us on May 20, 2026, at 5:00 PM.

We will meet at Trolley Park (2nd and Redondo, near the site where Lori Ann Carreon was killed) and gather to remember our lost loved ones. Then we will walk/roll westbound on 2nd St until reaching Bixby Park at Junipero. From there, we will head south to Bluff Park overlooking the ocean.

In their memory, we ride.

This month, CicLAvia is happening on the same day as our scheduled Bikes and Coffee, so we’ll turn it into a multi-modal feeder ride to West LA. Join us on Sunday April 26, as we bicycle and ride Metro to the biggest outdoor party in LA!

We’ll meet at SteelCraft a bit earlier than usual and bike 1 mile to the Wardlow station to take the A Line. We’ll get off at Slauson station and head towards West LA on the Rail to Rail bike path, through West Adams and the Expo Bike path, riding about 16 miles. And if you don’t want to ride the whole way, you could catch a train again about 8 miles in.

After enjoying CicLAvia (and finding some coffee!), we’ll regroup and go catch Metro back to Long Beach. It’s only a few blocks to the closest station.

Everyone is welcome on any bike, but keep in mind this is a longer adventure than our usual Bikes and Coffee rides. Bring a bike in good condition, a helmet, water/snacks and your TAP card – or money to buy one at Wardlow. See you there!

Please, if you haven’t done so yet, sign our ride waiver if you’re planning on attending:

Meet time: 8:15 a.m., roll at 8:45 a.m.

BIKES AND COFFEE

South Wrigley

Some scheduling conflicts meant that we couldn’t host our monthly Bikes and Coffee ride for March last Sunday. But we don’t want to wait another whole month for the next one so we’re hosting a short and sweet ride this Sunday, April 5th.

Meet us at Gaucho Beach at 9am. We’ll roll around 9:30 and head down past Shoreline Village and the lighthouse towards the LA River path. We’ll take the path up to South Wrigley and then make our way to Dedo Coffee for a coffee break. We’ll then head back towards downtown via Pine ave. and Alamitos ave., with a little detour to catch the beach path at Junipero Beach and finish right back at the starting point.

The route is about 10 miles and we’ll ride at a social pace of about 8-11 MPH. This is not a race! This ride is no-drop, meaning that the group will do its best not to leave anyone behind.

Everyone is welcome, on any kind of bike. Come meet and hang out with fellow bike people. Bring a bike in good condition, helmet and a lock (Dedo has a patio but we want to be mindful of blocking too much space with our bikes; let’s use the bike racks that are available). See you there!

Please, if you haven’t done so yet, sign our ride waiver if you’re planning on attending.

Start and end location: Gaucho Beach, 780 E Shoreline Dr.
Meet time: 9 a.m.. We’ll roll around 9:30 a.m.
Distance: About 10 miles

BIKES AND COFFEE: AVIATION HISTORY RIDE

Our next Bikes and Coffee ride is Sunday, February 22nd, and this time we’re exploring some of the aviation history of Long Beach.

We’ll meet at 9:30 a.m. at SteelCraft and we’ll roll off at 10 a.m. headed to the Long Beach airport (LGB) and have an abbreviated historic tour of the terminal. The roll time is sharp! We need to be at LGB on time for the tour.

Our next stop will be Rosie the Riveter park, where we will check out the different memorials honoring the women who worked in the aviation industry during war times. Afterwards we’ll stop at Wolf’s Brew for a coffee break before riding back to our starting point via the Veterans Memorial and the Around The World globe in Douglas Park.

The route is about 9 miles and we’ll ride at a social pace of about 8-11 MPH. This is not a race! This ride is no-drop, meaning that the group will do its best not to leave anyone behind.

All bikes are welcome. Please make sure your bike is in good working order for the ride. Helmets, bike locks, and repair kits encouraged. See you there!

Please sign our ride waiver if you’re planning on attending:

SAFE (Streets are for Everyone), alongside a coalition of non-profits and road safety advocates, will be hosting a die-in on the steps of LA City Hall in remembrance of the lives we lost due to traffic violence in 2025 and to raise awareness of the continued need for safer streets.

Bike Long Beach we will be hosting a feeder ride to the event on Saturday, January 24th, to support SAFE and this important cause. This feeder ride is in place of our monthly Bikes and Coffee ride. We’ll meet at 7:45 a.m. at Wardlow station and from there we will ride up the LA River path to downtown LA.

After the event, we’ll stop by Grand Central Market for coffee/lunch, and around 12:30 we’ll head back to Long Beach. We have the option of riding all the way back or taking Metro.

Everyone is welcome on any bike, but keep in mind that due to the distance it’s not a beginners ride. Make sure you’re okay with a ride of this length. Or meet us there if you’d like to attend but rather not ride.

Start: Wardlow station
Meet time: 7:45 a.m. We’ll roll at 8:00 a.m. sharp!
Distance: About 20 miles, one-way.
Route: https://ridewithgps.com/routes/53716598

*A die-in is “a protest or demonstration in which a group of people gather and lie down as if dead.” (Oxford Dictionary) In our case, to represent the lives lost to traffic violence and protest the lack of effective action by our City and state leaders, as demonstrated by rising fatalities.

It’s our last Bikes and Coffee of the year! Join us on Sunday, December 28th, for a ride up the bridge and to meet some bike friends.

We’ll meet at 9 a.m. at Bixby Park, and from there we’ll roll west through downtown and up the Mark Bixby memorial path on the International Gateway Bridge. The path was recently open all the way to the other side, so if that’s still the case we’ll go up to the end of the path, But if it’s not we’ll at least get some good views of the port from the top of the bridge.

After that we’ll head back to Hot Java, just a block away from the start point, for coffee and hangouts and to meet up with our friends from Lbians and Queercicles. They are meeting at the same place at noon to head out on a ride. Stick around to say hi, or join them on their ride as well!

Our route is around 11 miles on bike lanes, quiet streets and bike paths. There is a climb to get to the top of the bridge, but don’t be discouraged by that. We will take it easy and make sure we all stay together.

Everyone is welcome, on any kind of bike. Come meet and hang out with fellow bike people. Bring a bike in good condition, helmet and a lock. See you there!

Start: Bixby Park, corner of 1st and Junipero
End: Hot Java, 2101 E. Broadway
Meet time: 9 a.m. We’ll roll around 9:30 a.m.
Distance: About 11 miles
