Vanessa W.

In 2012, I was diagnosed with invasive ductal carcinoma, HER2-positive. By the grace of God, I discovered the lump during a self-exam - something I will always be grateful for. I honestly believe that breast cancer was a gift from God. At that point in my life, I had lost my way, but through that experience, I rediscovered my faith.
Through every treatment, fear, and prayer, I sensed God’s presence reminding me that my strength comes from Him. I am thankful to be cancer-free today, and I cherish each day as a precious gift. My family and friends supported me through every step of my journey, and now I’m privileged to help others through theirs by sharing my story and advocating for women diagnosed with breast cancer.
I’m proud to be part of Colors of Promise, a nonprofit dedicated to raising breast cancer awareness, education, and prevention — especially among women of color. My journey is one of faith, hope, and purpose. God transformed my trial into a testimony, and for that, I am forever grateful.

Pam B.

My world changed on May 5, 2025. I was called back after having my annual mammogram to be told I have breast cancer. I have never missed a mammogram in almost 30 years. I had a lumpectomy done and the sentinel node was tested and it was negative. I had 20 days of radiation and now we wait till December when I have another mammogram to make sure it is gone.

Triple Negative Breast Cancer (TNBC)

Triple negative breast cancer (TNBC) makes up about 15% of breast cancers. It lacks estrogen, progesterone, and HER2 receptors—meaning many standard therapies don’t work. TNBC grows quickly, is more likely to spread early, and often recurs within 5 years. It disproportionately affects women under 40, Black women, and those with BRCA1 mutations.

For metastatic TNBC (TNMBC), treatment options are limited. Chemotherapy is still the standard, but it’s highly toxic for patients in lifelong treatment. Newer options like immunotherapy, PARP inhibitors, and antibody-drug conjugates show promise, but they don’t work for everyone.

Sherri S.

I was diagnosed with dcis in situ, stage 0, at the age of 52. I decided early on to do my own research, and to make the best surgical decisions for my individual diagnosis.

As a survivor, I have become more aware of the importance of getting your yearly mammograms, and doing your own self exams, as it literally saved my life. 💕
