Your newest tree management tool? A selfie 🤳

This fall, Kentucky residents can replace the a Bradford pear with a native one thanks to University of Kentucky Cooperative Extension. The Kentucky Bradford Pear Bounty asks participants to remove a Bradford pear from their property and photograph the cut tree. Then one of seven Martin-Gatton CAFE Extension offices throughout the state will provide a native tree to replace it.

TIRE TUG-OF-WAR 2026
We will be working our final waste-tire cleanup event of 2026 on Wednesday, October 7 at Kermit, WV / Warfield, KY. Our staging area will be under the old railroad bridge on the WV side of the river. Volunteers can join us from there or from the Warfield boat ramp directly across the river. Work starts at 9:00 but you are welcome to come and go as your schedule allows.
This should be the day we collect our 20,000th waste-tire from the river.
As always, this event is very weather and river conditions dependent. Postponement or cancelation is possible. Keep an eye on our Facebook group and Website: friendsofthetugfork.org for updates.
