Meet Ollie!

At just seven months old, Ollie is learning that life as a beloved house dog is pretty amazing. After starting out in a barn environment, he has been adjusting beautifully to home life and proving himself to be a smart, eager-to-learn pup every step of the way.

Ollie is fully crate trained, sleeps through the night like a champ, and keeps his crate clean with no accidents. He’s also well on his way to being fully potty trained. This handsome boy already does great on a leash and is quickly picking up commands like recall and “wait.”

Ollie is incredibly friendly with both people and other dogs. While he hasn’t been tested with kids or cats yet, his happy-go-lucky personality shines through with everyone he meets. He enjoys bursts of playful energy, loves his toys, and always finds ways to keep his foster family smiling and laughing.

Like many puppies his age, Ollie is still working through his chewing phase, so he’ll do best with plenty of appropriate toys and guidance as he continues to learn.

If you’re looking for a joyful, bouncy, affectionate pup who is equal parts fun and lovable, Ollie might just be your perfect match.

From Fighting to Survive to Loving Life —
Meet Amos 🐾

At just 2–3 years old, Amos has already endured more than most of us could ever imagine… but you’d never know it by the love he gives today.

Don’t let his past hold you back from adding this incredible boy to your family.
Today, Amos is stronger, loving, and proving every single day that his story is far from over.
And what’s even more amazing—despite everything he’s been through, Amos is incredibly smart.
-He is potty trained and will go to the door when he needs to go out.
-He walks on a leash like he’s done it his whole life—truly impressive.
-Amos loves kids of all ages and has the most gentle, sweet spirit.
-He plays well with other dogs (a meet and greet is required).
-He does well with cats and even livestock.
-He enjoys being outdoors but is just as happy relaxing inside, soaking up love.
-He already knows sit, stay, and lay down—and he’s currently working on “shake.” 🐾
-Most importantly… Amos loves his people. ❤️

With his calm, mellow personality, he would do great even in an apartment setting.

Like most young dogs, Amos can get excited and may jump when meeting new people. It’s something we’re working on, but sometimes his happiness just gets the best of him.

What started as a story of neglect is becoming one of resilience, hope, and the power of people coming together.
Now, Amos is searching for his forever home—a place where he can give all the cuddles, loyalty, and love he has to offer. 🏡💛

His forever family needs to know regarding his health:
Amos has aortic stenosis which is a very malformed aortic valve that does not open completely. He is at an increased risk for left congestive heart failure. Thankfully his last chest radiographs did not reveal any evidence of impending congestive heart failure.
He also has mitral valve dysplasia but that is not causing a major issue at this time.
He is currently taking Spironolactone and has Lasix available as needed. He can not sustain long periods of heavy running or sprinting. The couch potato life with short slow walks is the life for him!

His forever home will need to be a home that understands and monitors his heart health.

Some of our younger dogs are still searching for their forever homes—and we truly don’t understand how they haven’t been scooped up yet. 💛

These dogs are at such a fun age: old enough to start understanding routines and training, but still young enough for endless adventures, goofy moments, and years of memories ahead.

They’re the dogs who:
🎾 Get the zoomies out of nowhere
🛋️ Want to be your couch buddy after playtime
🐶 Are learning confidence and new skills every day
💛 Just want someone to love them forever

Every single one of them deserves a family who will continue helping them learn, grow, and feel safe.

🏡 If you’ve been thinking about adding a dog to your family, this is your sign to consider a rescue dog in their younger years—you get all the fun, personality, and bonding moments while helping shape an amazing companion.

WE WANT YOUR NAME SUGGESTIONS FOR OUR NEWEST INTAKE - and a temp foster opportunity available!

This sweet boy is gearing up for his new foster home in about a week. In the meantime he has been staying in boarding. We would love to give him a new name to represent his new start since he came to BBR about a week ago. His new foster can not take him till next week so if you’re interested in giving him a place to land for a few days we’d love to talk more!

BUT FOR NOW HE NEEDS A NAME! Drop some of your name ideas in the comments. We love hearing from our community and supporters!

This sweet boy is Lightning. And we need to find him a foster or even better...a forever home!

Lightning is currently in boarding and while we're thankful he is in a safe and loving environment, nothing beats a home. Lightning is a wonderful balance of playful and cuddly. He is a bit bigger so a home with kids 8 yrs old and older is preferred.

Lightning is potty trained and crate trained (just needs a few minutes to settle). He does well with other dogs and is curious about cats (so a meet and greet and slow intros are recommended). He loves people and kids and will thrive in a patient home willing to help him learn some basic manners and provide him with structure and routine.

If you want to give Lightning the loving home he deserves and break him out of boarding for good click on one of the links below to meet him!

Socialization is safely and strategically exposing a dog to new environments, people, and other animals to create a calm and confident dog.

Overstimulation occurs when a dog is exposed to too much too quickly causing a flood of stress or excitement. Overstimulation can lead to reactivity. If your dog becomes overstimulated it is always best to help them create space so they can observe from a distance and give them more time before exposing them any further.

Here is how you can tell how your dog is processing a new experience...

Meet Lotti — the sweet, soulful girl who is just beginning to discover how wonderful life can be. 💕

When Lotti first arrived to BBR, she spent most of her time catching up on rest and quietly observing the world around her. But over the last few weeks, she has absolutely blossomed.

Lotti is affectionate, curious, goofy, and incredibly gentle. She’s learning how fun toys and treats can be, and she’ll happily toss toys in the air or roll a ball around all by herself. She’s also perfectly content matching your energy — whether that means lounging on the couch for a cozy nap or quietly hanging nearby while you go about your day.

She is around 2 yrs old, fully potty trained and has impeccable house manners. Lotti sleeps soundly through the night in her crate without accidents or fussing. She truly treats her crate like her safe little bedroom, complete with a pillow, comforter, toys, and a Kong.

Lotti also does wonderfully with cats and other dogs. She’s still figuring out her play style and sometimes prefers to sit back and observe, but she loves giving kisses and being part of the group. She has also been very sweet and patient with children she’s met so far.

While Lotti loves people, what she needs most is a patient adopter who will allow her the time and space to continue building confidence.

And if the last 3 weeks are any indication, Lotti is going to continue blossoming into an incredible companion. She’s already come so far, and it’s clear she’s finally starting to realize that the world can be full of kindness, comfort, and love.🩷
