Yesterday was a long day as all 3 of our teams played in the playoffs. 3 Games, 3 different locations and we had a lot of people running around the state like chickens with their heads cut off.
Thank you to the Parents, Coaches and Volunteers for making it happen. Shout out to the Sub Deb girls for helping at home.
Our Peewees finished the regular season at 6-2 as the 3rd seed so they hosted Houston Co. to open their playoff run. We’ve never played Houston before so we really didn’t know what to expect. They had a bit of a size advantage on us and played tough, but our Defense came through when needed and our Offense did its thing. Final Score 20-0.
Our Minors finished the season 5-3 as the 6th seed and drew the Burns Cowboys on the road. A rematch of our week 1 match-up. This one was a heart breaker, our Defense played one of its best games all year, 3 turnovers, defensive stops and great plays, but our offense couldn’t capitalize on the score board. Every time our Offense gained momentum a penalty, a miscue, or big play by the Burns Defense reared its head. Give credit where credit is due, the Cowboys are a solid team and no matter how good you are you have to be on your best against them. Final score 14-0. We’re extremely proud of our Minors Football Players, they have learned and grown so much this season and this let down will make them better in the long run. There is so much talent and potential for the future of this team, this is a Future Super Bowl Roster.
The Majors finished the season 4-4, after week 5 they had a record of 1-4 and needed to win out and a little help to make it in. They did exactly what they needed to do by winning 3 in a row. (Note all 4 losses came to the leagues 1,2,3 and 4 seeds and 3 out of 4 were 1 score games.) This team is a lot better than its record. White Bluff was victorious in week 2, but last night was a different story. After receiving the opening kick and playing 3 yards and a cloud of dust football for the entire quarter and almost 2 minutes into the 2nd WB took a 8-0 lead. The 0 wasn’t on the board long as the Patriots attacked their defense with precision strikes scoring in just 4 plays. In the second half the Patriots were able to put another 6 on the board, and made plays on defense when it mattered, holding the Bombers scoreless in the second half. Final Score 12-8.
Our Cheerleaders were amazing yesterday at home and on the road. Spirited and loud at home for the peewees. The Minors were amazing and never stopped cheering on our boys in Burns. The Majors, though a small squad of 5, were as loud as 20 in White Bluff, and helped our Defense get a goal line stand.
On to Round 2
