If you didn't know, today is Giving Tuesday! Giving Tuesday is an annual global day of giving, created to encourage generosity after consumer-focused shopping days that precede it, like Black Friday and Cyber Monday. On this day, people are encouraged to give back through donations, volunteering, acts of kindness, or other forms of support for causes they care about.

We'd like to invite you to consider donating to Girls Can Camp this Giving Tuesday. GCC is a nonprofit organization that provides camp to girls with special needs, ages 8 and up. Your financial support helps us purchase program supplies, overhead costs, and provides camperships to campers whose families cannot afford to pay for camp.

Please donate on paypal using this link, paypal.com/us/fundraiser/charity/3942539 or if you're not ready to donate, but would like more information about GCC; check out our website!

We had even more fun in the last half of our session! To round out our week at camp, we made “cowbells” and t-shirt bags (all from previous camp and Rotary shirts- so cool!), had the BEST sleepover, and opened up a temporary tattoo shop. We celebrated a session well done with our bead ceremony and recently added “warm fuzzy” tradition. We can hardly wait to see what next year’s session brings!

Last up for Introduction, but certainly not least: the admin staff!

✨Clone is our camp director, and after 42 years with J-Low and GCC combined, she says her favorite part of camp is seeing the growth in campers and staff from one year to the next!

✨Original is our Assistant Director and Business Manager, and with 41 years, her favorite part of camp is still interacting with and welcoming new campers into our camp!

✨Rootbeer is our Nurse this session, and she is back for her 3rd year after some time away. we’re so happy to have her back. When she’s not fixing booboos, she says her favorite part is helping with crafts and learning about the campers’ lives outside of camp!

we are so grateful for all the work they do behind the scenes and throughout the year- we truly could not have camp without them!

Now introducing: the counselors!
Our counselors work hard to shuttle out girls from place to place throughout the camp, provide support in activities, set up some good pool-volleyball games, and are the champions of hygiene in our camp! we are so grateful for all they do.

✨Blondie and Mantis are are summer number nine with GCC this year! they are dedicated to Girls Can, with 4 years as campers, 3 years as CITs, and now 2 years as counselors! we’re so grateful for their growing up with us!

✨Kiwi started with us as a CIT, and this is her 3rd year with GCC, now as a counselor! kiwi says her favorite part of camp is getting to spend time with Blondie.

✨Strawberry Shortcake is in the middle of her second session with Girls Can, and we’re so glad she came back to us after her first year. Strawbs has been enjoying watching some of our more shy campers find their place here at camp!

✨Butterfly is brand new to GCC and says she can’t wait to come back next year!

first group of introductions: the team leaders! team leaders make sure all counselors in a cabin are on the same page, comfort late-night homesickness, and come early to camp to decide logistical stuff before everyone else shows up. we’re very grateful for the extra work they put in to help camp run more smoothly🤍

✨Ginger has been a counselor with GCC for 6 years, and this is her first summer as a team leader!

✨Giraffe is on her 6th summer with us and we’re honored to have her back as a team leader for the second year!
