Leavenworth Interfaith Community of Hope

Leavenworth Interfaith Community of Hope Welcome Central is open Monday-Thursday, 9:00 a.m.-3:00 p.m. Our Night Shelter is open 7 days/week from 9:00 p.m.-7:00 a.m.

Welcome Central is the entity that resources those in our community with needs for clothing, food, assistance with rent/utilities, or even obtaining a birth certificate or ID. The Night Shelter is a safe place for unhoused individuals in Leavenworth County to find rest for the night. The Day Center is an environment where individuals learn to do their part by partaking in chores and other life ski

lls. At the day shelter, individuals receive a warm meal and basic needs are met (i.e. a shower, laundry, a clean sink for daily grooming). The Day Center is open 7 days/week from 7:00 a.m.-3:00 p.m. In addition to those items listed above, the Community of Hope has a holistic approach to providing as many wrap-around services to the unhoused population as possible. This includes the basic need of shelter (provided by our Night Shelter and Day Center), safety (by providing a safe environment, health services with a monthly medical team on-site, hair cuts, resources to establish long-term security, and items such as clothing, food, connecting to psychological services and more.

Having a safe place to stay does not always happen on its own. It can take a community.

Our Night Shelter provides individuals in Leavenworth County with a warm, secure place to rest, and it takes around 70 volunteers each week to keep it running.

From preparing spaces to offering a welcoming presence, each volunteer plays a part in making this work possible.

If you have ever considered getting involved, this is a meaningful way to make a direct impact in your community.

Learn more about how you can support or volunteer by commenting below, emailing us as [email protected] or attending our next monthly Volunteer Training this Monday, June 8th at 6pm.

At The Community of Hope, transparency is an important part of how we serve. We believe our community deserves to understand not only what we do, but how we are growing, improving, and responding to local needs. That means sharing updates, being clear about our services, and staying open to feedback.

Every conversation, every update, and every step forward is part of building trust with the people we serve and those who support our work. You can learn more about our ongoing efforts in Leavenworth County by visiting our website: https://lvcommunityofhope.org/

The Community of Hope is more than one program. It is a network of support designed to meet people where they are.

Here is how we serve Leavenworth County each day:

🔹Welcome Central connects individuals to resources, services, and next steps.
🔹The Day Center offers a safe space for rest, connection, and daily support.
🔹The Night Shelter provides a warm, secure and safe place to sleep.

Each program plays a different role, but together they create a stronger path forward for individuals and families in our community.

If you would like to learn more about our programs or how to get involved, please comment below or reach out to us at [email protected].

Our CEO, Michael Augustine presented $19,000 to Jennifer Christensen at Leavenworth Interfaith Community of Hope at their recent Gala. The proceeds are possible through our annual Home for the Homeless grant where $100 from every home loan helps support Welcome Central, the Day Center and the Night Shelter. We are proud to say that over $137,000 has been donated in 11 years 🤩

This May, during Mental Health Awareness Month, we are highlighting an important distinction: the difference between mental health and mental health conditions.

Many people think these terms mean the same thing, but they don't. Understanding the distinction can help us take better care of ourselves and support others more effectively.

Here is the difference:

💚Mental health is universal - Everyone has mental health. It includes your emotional, psychological, and social well-being and affects how you think, feel, and act in daily life.

💚Mental health conditions are specific - These are diagnosable disorders like depression, anxiety, or post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). More than 50% of people will receive a mental health diagnosis at some point.

💚Good mental health and mental illness can coexist - Many people living with mental health conditions have periods of strong mental well-being through treatment, support, and self-care.

💚Poor mental health does not always mean mental illness - You can experience poor mental health due to stress, burnout, grief, or life transitions without having a diagnosable condition.

💚Simple ways to care for your mental health - Find coping skills that work for you. These could include journaling, deep breathing, moving your body, or spending time with loved ones.

💚Professional support is available - Therapy can benefit anyone, not just those with diagnosed conditions.

If you need support, please reach out to a health care professional. Help is available, and you're not alone.
