My wife sold my 1948 Harley Panhead while I was deployed to buy luxury purse. I was saving lives in Afghanistan as a combat medic while she did this.

The bike my grandfather built with his bare hands after World War II, that my father restored after Vietnam, that was supposed to go to our son – she sold it for twelve thousand dollars to some collector on Craigslist.

I found out through a Facebook photo where she's posing with her new Louis Vuitton bag, captioned "Sometimes a girl needs to treat herself while hubby's away playing soldier."

My buddy Jake screenshot it and sent it to me at base camp, and I just stared at my phone in the Afghan dust, realizing the woman I'd been married to for fifteen years had no idea what she'd just destroyed.

That bike wasn't just metal and chrome. It was three generations of military service. Three generations of men coming home from war and finding peace on the open road.

Grandpa's blood was literally in that bike – he'd cut his hand building it and always joked his DNA was in the frame.

‼️ TRAFFIC ALERT‼️
Tomorrow, 12/11/2025, the funeral for Cedar Park Police Lt. “Bobby” Vernengo will be held at the Life Church, in Leander. Graveside services will immediately follow at Bagdad Cemetery, in Leander.

The funeral services will begin at 10am and is expected to end around 11:30am. The funeral procession will begin after the services and it is expected to be very large as Bobby left a lasting legacy and positive impact in our area.

The procession will leave the church, proceed northbound on 183A Toll frontage where they will turn west onto Hero Way and proceed to the cemetery. The entire funeral procession route will be closed to vehicles to safely and efficiently move a procession of this anticipated size.

Community members who wish to pay their respects to Bobby, his family and his loved ones as we take him to his final resting place are encouraged to line the route, keeping clear of the travel lanes. Since the route will be closed as the procession begins, we encourage everyone to get there early.

If you are traveling in the area, we ask that you plan alternative routes, avoid the area or expect major delays during this time.
