Sometimes peace begins by simply noticing what’s right in front of you. And as John 14:27 reminds us, we don’t have to face troubled moments without hope.

Some moments remind us why access to counseling matters so much.

Since the tragedy at Apalachee High School in September 2024, Freedom Path Counseling has continued to walk alongside children, teens, and families impacted by this devastating event.

Through the generous support of the Community Foundation for Northeast Georgia and other generous donors, we have been able to provide ongoing counseling at no cost to those affected and that support continues today.

Healing doesn’t follow a timeline. For many, the effects of trauma, grief, and loss continue long after the immediate crisis has passed. That’s why our commitment has never been limited to the weeks or months following the tragedy.

This short video shares a piece of that ongoing story and demonstrates what is possible when community partners come together to ensure people have access to care when they need it.

We are deeply grateful to the Community Foundation for Northeast Georgia for continuing to invest in this work and helping us provide a path toward healing for those impacted by the Apalachee tragedy.

We were grateful to be part of the Community Foundation for Northeast Georgia’s annual Good2Give Celebration, an inspiring gathering of nonprofits, donors, and community leaders committed to making a difference across our region.

It was especially meaningful to see Freedom Path Counseling highlighted on stage through video and to share a glimpse of the lives being impacted through our work.

We are incredibly thankful for the Community Foundation for Northeast Georgia and their continued investment in our mission, including support of our no-cost Apalachee High School counseling program. Their partnership has helped us provide counseling and ongoing support to students, families, and others affected by the tragedy, without finances becoming a barrier to receiving care.
