Wandrie's Wishes is now a Non-profit!!

Did you know that Wandrie's Wishes started as a project at my children's local school?!

It was called Blessings in a Box ❤️

I would have a box in each classroom and each month they would collect needed items for local agencies!! It was a great way for me to begin to collaborate with some wonderful agencies in our community! I appreciate the kids school community, who helped me start this project...who knew it would have turned into this!?!?!

Wandrie's Wishes is a Non-Profit now!!! I just would like to end this week of celebrating our board members with a huge thank you to my family. My kids have been the center of this project since the beginning. I wanted to continue some sort of service learning in their lives. Wandrie's Wishes was the perfect way to melt it into our lives. Thank you to my kids for giving me hope, purpose and direction with Wandrie's Wishes. ❤️. Thank you to my husband Darryl Wandrie for supporting, motivating and loving me through all the hard times and helping me come out stronger. My prayer is that Wandrie's Wishes can help others with hope and support through their difficult times in life and know we love and care for them. Thank you Darryl, Gavin and Maelyn. Your outstanding love and guidance has been everything to me to help make Wandrie's Wishes a Non-profit ❤️

Wandrie's Wishes Board of Directors!

Meet Pam Cross!

Pam is one of the trustees for Wandrie's Wishes. Pam was born and raised in Lapeer and graduated from Lapeer West High School. She worked for the Lapeer County Sheriff’s Department for 31 years before retiring in 2011.

Pam enjoys spending time with her family, cheering on her four teenage grandchildren at their various sporting events, and traveling with friends.

Pam said "When I was asked to become a board member for Wandrie’s Wishes, I didn’t even hesitate. Wandrie's Wishes has always amazed me with the work they do for children in our area. Volunteering for the various events Wandrie’s Wishes has throughout the year has always inspired me." ✨️

Meet Stacey Heathershaw Friend!

Stacey is one of our trustees. Stacey has been married for 20 years and they have 4 children. She has lived in Lapeer for the last 11 years. Her family had relocated to Michigan from Iowa due to her husband's job. Her children attend North Branch schools and she works as a Para at the high school.

Stacey is excited to be a trustee on the Wandrie Wishes board. She feels like we can serve a lot of kids and families through this generous non-profit. Stacey said, "I hope through everyone's donations that we can change a birthday, Easter or a Christmas for a child, that they will remember for a long time". 🥰

Meet Heidi Bush Irwin!

Heidi is our Secretary for Wandrie's Wishes. Heidi was born and raised in Lapeer and has been a practicing physical therapist for many years. In 2018, she opened Metamora Physical Therapy, where she is passionate about helping patients regain function and return to the activities they enjoy.

She lives in Oxford with her husband, their son, and two dogs. Outside of work, she enjoys reading, spending time with family and friends, and getting away Up North whenever she can.

She is proud to serve on the Wandries Wishes Board and values the organization’s meaningful impact on families throughout the community. She is honored to support its mission alongside a dedicated and compassionate team.

Wandrie's Wishes Board of Directors!

Meet Darryl Wandrie!

Darryl is the treasurer of Wandrie's Wishes. He is married to Katrina Wandrie and is the father of Gavin and Maelyn.

As a child, Darryl grew up in a poor family. Due to his parents divorce, he moved around a lot, going to many different schools. He stayed in a foster home for 6 months with his siblings. He understands that his hardships are but a small fraction of what many families go through. He believes his devotion to Wandrie's Wishes stem from his childhood and hopes to make a child smile or bring a happy memory for them to keep.

Darryl is a proud army veteran who has been deployed twice to serve America. He received his teaching degree with U of M Flint but then decided to change careers. He has been a train conductor with CSX for 15 years. He has volunteered as a Reserve Sheriff Deputy through Genesee County, as a Sunday School aide and many other community activities.

Darryl is very excited that Wandrie's Wishes has become a non-profit since this will open up more opportunities. He says, With the help and support of family, friends and the community, Wandrie's Wishes will be able to bring light and love to our neighbors in need.

Wandrie's Wishes Board of Directors!

Meet Katrina Wandrie!

Katrina is the founder and president of Wandrie's Wishes. She began the organization to help local agencies get needed items and to teach her children service learning skills. Her family has been there every step of the way. She noticed the need for Easter Baskets, Christmas Stockings and Birthday bundles for children and that's where the organization grew.

Katrina has been married for 20 years to her husband, Darryl. Together they have 2 children - Gavin and Maelyn. Family roots have been large in making Wandrie's Wishes work!

Katrina is a special education teacher in the Lapeer county area. She has taught for 20 years with various ages and this school year will be teaching special education at an alternative high school.

Katrina choose the name "Wandrie's Wishes" for her organization because she wanted to connect it to making a wish at your birthday. One of her favorite quotes is "Never stop making wishes".

🚨🚨 We have some EXCITING news!!🚨🚨

Wandrie's Wishes has become..Wandrie's Wishes, INC! You heard that right! We are now a non-profit!!!! This may not seem like big news to many but it took a lot of praying, discussions and learning about non-profits to feel comfortable enough to finally take the step! I still have lots to learn but have an amazing board of directors to walk on this journey with me (Look for posts this week introducing them!)! Huge thanks to those that have mentored and assisted me through this process! Wishes really do come true!!
