Its that time of year, packing up the tennis equipment for the off season. Sorted through the tennis ball inventory for recycling (👍)

This week we will begin our 5 week Monday adult evening lessons at 170 Millville Rd Lapeer 630pm Lapeer Optimist Tennis Courts ❤️.

We will be reaching out to regional indoor tennis facilities for potential court times, morning clinics, and evening clinics. If interested in joining us in Port Huron or Grand Blanc (October - April) drop us a interest form (see comment for website).

A sign of the end of season happening today, we are starting our tennis ball recycling plan. Each year for several years we sort through our ball inventory and responsively recycle the balls that are well used.

- donation to schools for repurpose
- donation to non profit recycling company

Are some of the ways we have done our the years.
How are you recycling your used balls?

Passed by Lapeer Cramton Park and I see City Parks and Recreation has made progress since our feature on the courts.

The fencing is up and I see a few pickleball nets are up. Next steps may include top coating, line painting, and tennis court net posts and net.

Friday night lights? For me in Lapeer it was playing tennis at Cramton Park several years ago. It was a 3 court lite tennis venue with a great big concrete wall to hit against that was donated by the Lions Club.

Here are a few pictures, one from our 2021 National Tennis Month public event (Coach Renee was helping us that night) and the other from a fewweeks ago.

Like Rowden Park, I recently looked at these courts from a different perspective. The courts are almost invisible from M24 and you barely can see them from Imlay City Road. There are no signs indicating tennis courts (or fishing, walking, playground, disc golf course). You have you find them by chance or be invited by a friend. I found these courts by first seeing a Tennis League story in the local paper. It led me to the Lapeer Community Center for registration. Yes, our area week day evening leagues use to be played at Cramton Park.

Today the court surfaces are being redone from 3 lit tennis courts to 1 tennis court and 6 pickleball courts. No clue when they will be ready, only hope the City will allow us (or invite us ♥️) to hold lessons there for adults and children.

Lapeer Tennis Community will invite you to join us there for some Red Ball Tennis (yep we can play tennis on a small courts with shorter stringed rackets and low compression balls; the sound won’t keep you awake) or maybe a Friday Night Singles or Couples Night!

If you are like me and have lived in Lapeer a bit you’ll remember the public tennis courts we had. For me, I remember hitting against the wall at Water Tower Rowden Park (and losing many balls in the woods). I also played singles matches against friends there. It was a 3 court venue with lights.

I recently looked at this area from a different perspective. If I moved to Lapeer how would I ever know there were tennis courts? Long time ago, I must have found the courts at Rowden when I went there for a walk. You cannot see the courts (or the area where they were) from the road, they were hidden. I had to find them by chance as there where no signs and not visible from the road.

The pictures below show the conditions 4 years ago and today. Today our courts in Lapeer are not visible from the road (easily) you have to find them by chance or be invited by a friend.

Lapeer Tennis Community invites you to join us at our current Lapeer Community Schools location 170 Millville Rd. Like Rowden the courts are not visible from the road. So count on us to invite you!
