This Father’s Day, we celebrate the fathers, father figures, co-parents, and caregivers whose love and presence help families and communities thrive. 💙

We especially honor Black, Indigenous, and fathers of color whose parenting journeys, leadership, resilience, and nurturing care continue to strengthen generations - often while navigating systemic inequities that deserve recognition and change.

Fathers play a vital role in infant feeding, family wellness, and community connection.

As we celebrate today, we also invite you to continue the conversation by exploring our 2025 Fatherhood Series within the Great Lakes Breastfeeding Webinars, highlighting the experiences, wisdom, and impact of fathers and families in our communities. Register at mibreastfeeding.org/webinars.

Today, we honor Juneteenth - a commemoration of freedom, resilience, liberation, and the ongoing pursuit of Black joy. ❤️🖤💚

Juneteenth is both a day of remembrance and a call to continue advancing racial justice and equity in our communities and systems.

We recognize and celebrate the strength, leadership, care, and contributions of Black families, parents, organizations, and changemakers whose voices and advocacy continue to shape a more hopeful future.

As we reflect today, may we also recommit ourselves to listening, learning, community-building, and creating spaces where we don’t settle for the current tactics of erasure, control, or delay, but rather we demand freedom and justice.

Summer often brings a change of pace, but the realities families navigate while feeding and caring for their children remain constant. Access to support, workplace protections, community resources, and responsive systems continues to shape feeding experiences long after the early postpartum period.

As we move into the season ahead, MIBFN remains focused on the long-term work of systems change. Together with families, communities, and partners across Michigan, we are working to create environments where human milk feeding is supported not by individual determination alone, but by policies, practices, and communities that make support possible.

We are thankful for everyone who contributes to this work and helps advance a future where every family has the resources, respect, and support they deserve.

As summer begins, our office will be taking a brief seasonal pause for rest, reflection, and renewal. ☀️

At the core of our work is the belief that caring for communities also means caring for ourselves and one another. This temporary office closure allows our team time to recharge so we can continue showing up with intention, compassion, and commitment to supporting families across Michigan.

Our office will be closed the week of the 15th and 22nd. We look forward to reconnecting with you soon.
