DIAPER NEED is defined as not having a sufficient supply of diapers to keep one's baby clean, dry, and healthy. families report strugglin
g to afford diapers for their babies. To sufficiently diaper a baby costs $70-80 a month and there is no government program that provides diapers as a basic need for babies. Diaper need affects the whole family and mothers struggling with diaper need are more likely to suffer poor mental health than mothers who do not struggle with diaper need. Bottoms Up Diaper Drive works to provide diapers to address diaper need in two ways:
1. by collecting diapers/wipes through DIAPER DRIVES at schools, churches, fraternal organizations, and businesses.
2. by purchasing diapers/wipes in bulk through generous FINANCIAL GIFTS from our supporters.
*GOAL: to have 50% of the diapers come from diaper drives and 50% be purchased; but the current pandemic has necessitated purchasing nearly 90% of the diaper supply needed to keep pace with the demand. The VISION of the Bottoms Up Diaper Drive Team is to end diaper need in the geography we serve. That geography consists of 23 counties in Central and Southern Ohio; but we are currently active in 6 of those counties, delivering over 60,000 diapers a month to nearly 70 community partner agencies. Logistically we work out of three warehouses, purchase diapers by the pallet/truckload, and have a team of volunteers who help make deliveries to our community partners in our organization-owned vehicles. Bottoms Up Diaper Drive will distribute more than 1,000,000 diapers in 2021 and the growth trajectory, given geographic expansion, will continue its upward path well beyond 2021. The ability to keep pace with growth is solely dependent on financial sustainability and community involvement in that sustainability. We have an active board of directors, are incorporated in the State of Ohio, and have a 501 (c)3 status with the Internal Revenue Service. We are committed to being good stewards of the resources our supporters entrust to us for families in need. Learn more about our organization by visiting our website: www.bottomsup.life
