Our mission is to inspire and develop our global community of youth and volunteers to a life dedicated to leadership, service, and innovation. For more than five decades, HOBY has inspired young people to make a difference and become catalysts for positive change in their home, school, workplace, and community. As America’s foremost youth leadership organization, HOBY has a long history of successfully motivating young people to develop into outstanding leaders.

We are so excited to share that Olympian Lauren Gibbs will be speaking at our 2026 World Leadership Congress! Just four years after trying Bobsled on a whim, Lauren made her Olympic debut and won silver at the 2018 Games. With an B.A. from Brown University and an MBA from Pepperdine University, Lauren is the Vice President of Business Development at the Posse Foundation and a motivational speaker. Lauren shares valuable lessons from her journey to the Olympic podium including how to reframe adversity, find value in failure, utilize your support system and resources, and benefit from stepping out of your comfort zone.

Hip-hip, hooray for HOBY! Ambassadors had a packed day of work and play making our final full day together OUTSTANDING! This morning, ambassadors took the show on the road to eight offsite volunteering locations and turned what they learned about service leadership into action. After a mid-day reset, ambassadors heard from a panel of speakers from a few of the offsites they just served at! Before dancing the night away, ambassadors made action plans to address a need in their communities and shared with the group! It’s never HOBY without a party right?!?! The night was topped off with the yearly dance where fun was had by all. Thank you for following along with Central Pennsylvania HOBY today!!

Today we celebrate Hugh O’Brian’s birthday! As the founder of HOBY, Hugh believed in the potential of every human being and was committed to helping young people of the world become major contributors to society. His legacy lives on today, with more than 500,000 HOBY alumni and volunteers positively impacting their communities.

At the 2011 World Leadership Congress, Reverend Jesse Jackson shared his wisdom, passion, and power with over 400 HOBY ambassadors and volunteers. He was a champion for civil rights and economic justice who emphasized to our WLC that young leaders who connect with one another can positively impact the world. We are grateful for his time with us, and more grateful still for all of the ways he has made our country and world a better place. Rest in peace, Reverend Jackson.
