Congratulations to the members of Lakeland Police Department Explorer Post 602 on receiving the Unit Citation Award! 🏅🚔

This summer, our Explorers volunteered more than 309 hours supporting Lakeland Police Department’s Active Shooter In-Service Training at Florida Southern College. Serving as role players, they portrayed students, victims, and officers in realistic scenarios that helped prepare more than 250 officers for critical incidents.

Through long days, Florida heat, physically demanding conditions, and countless training scenarios, these Explorers demonstrated professionalism, teamwork, dedication, and selfless service. Their efforts played a vital role in the success of this training and helped better prepare our officers to protect our community.

Your commitment reflects the core values of the Lakeland Police Department: Respect, Integrity, Teamwork, and Excellence.

Congratulations to Kasey Walker, Addison Henderson, Lamar Smith, Theo Williams, Truett Williams, Jason Morales, Cam’ryen Mitchell-Marr, Enjolin Mendoza-Miles, Christian Doughty, and Tristan Cline on this well-deserved recognition! 👏

After state competition, the Lakeland Police Department Explorers Post 602 hit the reset button and got back to the basics. Learning never stops, and Monday’s training focused on forensic science and crime scene processing.

Crime Scene Technician Mulderrig led both a classroom and hands-on training session, teaching Explorers the proper techniques for processing a vehicle crime scene from start to finish. Explorers learned the importance of preserving evidence, documenting scenes, and following procedures that help build successful investigations.

On Monday, the Lakeland Police Explorers Post 602 hosted Auburndale Police Explorers Post 3435 for a joint training session. The two posts came together to learn and practice high-risk (felony) traffic stops while enjoying some beautiful Florida weather.

Working side by side, Explorers from both agencies trained toward a common goal—learning, building teamwork, and preparing for future careers in law enforcement. We are thankful for the opportunity to continue developing our skills and strengthening partnerships with neighboring Explorer posts. 🚔☀️
