Over the years I have consciously and purposefully worked at being a better listener, but over the last year or so I've found myself digressing rather than progressing. Been asking the Lord to search my heart to find out why. James seems to suggest that we have two ears and one mouth for a reason! Be quick to hear and slow to speak is a very purposeful directive!

Want to understand the Bible better? Try this! Pick a book of the New Testament and read through it on a daily basis five chapters at a time. For instance, the book of James has 5 chapters. It will take about 15-30 minutes to read through the book at a steady speed. Read through the book every day five days a week for one month. You'll be suprised what you'll learn and remember.

If you pick a longer New Testament book divide it up into 5 chapter segments and do the same thing for an entire month. It really is impactful. If you're reading through an Old Testament book read five chapters a day until you finish the book. No repetition needed!
