The Lakewood National Honor Society is open to Juniors and Seniors with a 3.5 or higher GPA. Interested students should see Mrs. Stepek in room 32 with questions. Applications and teacher recommendations are due 9/16. Application link and details are available on the high school website under the students tab.

More than just an honor roll, NHS serves to honor those students who have demonstrated excellence in the areas of scholarship, leadership, service, and character--And to help those students serve their communities.

Lakewood National Honor Society students have been busy serving the community this Christmas season! Helping to box and load the community Christmas boxes, writing letters as "Santa's Elves" to second grade student students, and creating cocoa packets to thank our area first responders.

The November food drive sponsored by our high school student leadership groups brought in more than 1000 food items for Manna's Market. Thank you to the community and to Carl's Supermarket for hosting our donation table. Working together to feed hope!

 Stop by Carl's Supermarket of Lake-O and donate to the LHS food drive initiative! Our volunteers will be there in the afternoon after school and the evening today through Thursday to accept your donations to Manna's Market.

Students Rally to Support Families After SNAP Disruptions

Meet Emma Tidd, NHS President. Emma and her peers are a powerful example of student leadership sparked by compassion. When Emma learned about the disruption to SNAP food assistance benefits and the challenges local families could face, she turned to her friend and fellow NHS member and said, "Let's do something." This inspired the National Honor Society, Youth Advisory Committee, and Student Council to move into swift action, collaborate, and organize a food drive to help Lakewood families enjoy a full Thanksgiving. They are united by one goal: "We want to make an impact and help families in our community to enjoy a good Thanksgiving," said Tidd. They are currently collecting non-perishable, non-expired food items, November 11 through November 21, all items will be sorted and delivered to Manna’s Market for local families. “We are building leadership and organizational skills through this experience, but more importantly we understand what it means and how rewarding it feels to give back and serve your community.” We invite you to support these dedicated students and help them meet their impactful food drive goal. We are proud of them for seeing a need, and taking the lead.

Lakewood NHS had their first full-member meeting since the induction ceremony on Friday. Members spent time enjoying snacks and getting to know each other for this teambuilding meeting.

Their dedication shines brightly, demonstrating that now, more than ever, they are driven by a genuine desire to take care of families right here in the Lakewood community. Please join them in making a real difference. Accepting non-perishable food items - not expired, November 11-21, in the 1st hour classroom or the main office.
