There is still time to sign up to become a Literacy Partner, also known as a Reading Buddy!

Education Connection’s goal is simple: strengthen early literacy through just 30 minutes a week of one-on-one support with a 2nd or 3rd grade student at Lago Vista Elementary School.

A small investment of your time can make a lasting difference in a child’s confidence, reading skills, and love of learning.

Our volunteer training is this Wednesday, September 2nd, from 10:00–11:30 AM.

If you’ve been looking for a meaningful way to give back to local children and help a young reader succeed, this is a wonderful opportunity to get involved.

Yesterday, 23 incredible women, along with their children, came to the Eco-Chic Boutique at ‘s office to shop for themselves and experience a little extra love and care.

The volunteers didn’t just help each woman find something she loved — they took the time to listen, encourage, laugh, and remind each person who walked through the doors that she matters.
And the best part? Hearing the little moments that made the evening special:
“This has been such a blessing. The Lord truly provides.”
“Look at my cute purse!”
“My favorite thing was the glasses and accessories.”
“Thank you very much!”
And then there were the tears — happy tears — as two women walked out the door.

Erin is one of many faithful people working toward their Certificate in Biblical Counseling through the Hope Center! Our 14-month program is designed to take people who are already committed disciple-makers and equip them to become biblical counselors. It is a joy to watch them grow in their understanding of Scripture and in their ability to care for others well.

What if 30 minutes a week could make a lasting difference in a young person’s life? Project Mentor is looking for caring men and women in our community who are willing to invest in a student in Lago Vista ISD. Mentors meet with their student for lunch once a week, offering encouragement, connection, and simply the gift of showing up. You don’t have to have all the answers. You just have to be willing to listen, care, and be consistent.

Be someone that matters to someone that matters.
Training is provided, and mentors will complete an application and LVISD background check.

A HUGE THANK YOU to our Back2School Bash community!
We’re still thinking about what an incredible day this was—and especially about all the people who braved the Texas heat to show up for our kids.
This year, our community helped make possible:
331 backpacks filled with school supplies
67 haircuts
550+ people, including kids, parents, volunteers, and community members
We want to give a special shout-out to the Lions Club of Lago Vista, Candlelight Ranch, Ladies of Charity Lake Travis, ESD 1, and the Lago Vista Library for helping make this day happen. We are so grateful for each organization that continues to invest in the children and families of our community.
And to all of our Hope Center volunteers—thank you. Whether you were sweating it out with us at Back2School Bash or quietly serving behind the scenes throughout the year, your time matters. The Hope Center is able to do what we do because people like you keep showing up.

Finally, to all of our North Shore kids—we hope you have an amazing school year! Whether you attend public school, charter school, private or homeschool, we’re cheering you on and hoping this is a year filled with growth, new friendships, learning, and lots of reasons to be proud of yourself.
