ommunity of "The Island" of Lake Travis. That was nearly 30 years ago when The Singers began as an exclusive ensemble, open only to members of The Island. Sometime later, the choir launched officially as The Hill Country Singers and moved their practices and performances into the greater Lago Vista community. Over the years they have been guided by talented music directors, including: Glen Beeler, Jr., Amor Lee Gardner, David Stevens and now William Parcher. WILLIAM PARCHER - Director
William (Bill) has a multi-faceted and distinguished background. Edwards University. Among his many conducting credits is the opera Mikado at The American Univerity, Le Nozze Di Figaro with the Bulgarian Opera touring in Portugal. He also founded and conducted the Fox Hall Chamber Orchestra in Washington D.C., was assistant conductor of the American Choir of Cecilton, Maryland, and was a conducting student of Jerry Sapievski (The American University). William has also studied with such maestros as Leonard Bernstein and Robert Shaw. He holds a Master of Music Degree from Indiana University and a bachelor’s degree from American University in Washington D.C. Bill is a professional opera singer as well. His career spans some 200 productions sung throughout the United States, Europe, and Japan and include: The New York City Opera, La Scala in Milan, Italy, Metropolitan Opera in New York, and Houston Grand Opera. Locally he founded The Parcher School of Arts, where he taught classes and private lessons in voice and visual arts. He is also a member of the Twilight Jazz Ensemble and is an adept performer with Lago Vista Players and Lake Travis Music Theater. TYLER GROFT – Pianist
At five years old Tyler Groft began his classical training on the piano, and by the age of 15 began touring internationally. While serving as a United States Marine, he performed for congressmen, senators, foreign dignitaries, and high-ranking military officials with the Marine Corps Band. After his tenure in the Marine band, Sergeant Groft graduated Magna Cum Laude from Duquesne University's Mary Pappert School of Music, where he studied music education and jazz. He has performed in, or music-directed shows such as Tommy, Sister Act, Oliver, Once Upon a Mattress, Grease, Chicago, Assassins, Rocky Horror Picture Show, Heathers, Hairspray, Shrek, and The Fantasticks. In June 2018, he performed in Leonard Bernstein's Mass at the Long Center for the Performing Arts with the Austin Symphony Orchestra.
