🎃🐾 Halloween Safety Tip #4 from Autism Society of Acadiana!

💙 Animal Safety: Keeping Kids & Pets Comfortable!

Halloween can be exciting, but unfamiliar animals, costumes, and unexpected interactions can create stressful situations.

🐶 Ask before approaching! Remind children to always ask permission before petting someone's dog, even if the dog seems friendly.

🐾 Give animals space. Costumes, masks, loud noises, and crowds can make even familiar pets nervous.

🎃 Practice ahead of time. Talk with your child about what to do if they encounter a barking dog or an unfamiliar animal while trick-or-treating.

🚫 Never approach a dog that is barking, growling, eating, or behind a fence. Give the animal space and calmly move away.

💙 Remember: Some children may be especially sensitive to barking or sudden movements, while others may be drawn to animals without recognizing potential dangers.

A little preparation and awareness can help keep both children and animals safe this Halloween!

Yesterday was National First Responders Day, and we couldn’t let the week pass without taking a moment to honor the incredible line-up of heroes right here in Acadiana. 🌟

Through the years, our local first responders have consistently shown up and showed out for Autism Society Acadiana.
Whether participating in our events, spending time with families at meet-and-greets, or proactively reaching out to us for resources and specialized training to better serve our community, their commitment to learning and connecting is truly inspiring.

To every first responder across Acadiana: thank you for the heart, safety, and care you bring to our families every single day.
