The parable of the Rich Man and Lazarus reminds us that one of our greatest spiritual dangers is not always active cruelty, but indifference: the failure to see the suffering person lying at our very gate.

Death reveals what we have made of our souls. The love of God, which is the source of joy and rest for those who have learned to love, becomes torment for those who have closed their hearts to compassion.

But the message of this Gospel is also one of hope: **the time to open our eyes, show mercy, and repent is now.**

As Abraham tells the rich man: *“They have Moses and the Prophets; let them hear them.”* The question is not whether God has given us enough guidance, but whether we are willing to listen and respond.

Archimandrite Dr. Fadi Rabbat Highlights the Mission and Academic Growth of the Antiochian House of Studies

In a recent interview on the Arabic-language program “I Came to Serve,” hosted by Fr. Elias Karam on Noursat TV, the Rt. Rev. Archimandrite Dr . Fadi Rabbat, Academic Dean of the Antiochian House of Studies (AHOS), reflected on the institution’s history, academic development, and enduring mission to prepare clergy, deacons, and lay leaders for service to the Orthodox Church.

During the conversation, Fr. Fadi traced the development of AHOS from its founding under the late Metropolitan Philip (Saliba), highlighting its transformation from a correspondence-based educational program into an accredited institution of theological higher education. He emphasized the importance of its hybrid educational model, which combines distance learning, in-person academic sessions, and practical pastoral formation.

Fr. Fadi also discussed the continued expansion of AHOS academic programs, including graduate and doctoral studies in theology and Orthodox studies.
Among the significant recent developments, he highlighted **the academic approval of a new Master’s program in Orthodox Canon Law**, reflecting the institution’s ongoing commitment to academic excellence and to meeting the evolving needs of the Church.

The interview further explored the institution’s role in preparing permanent deacons and equipping laypeople for active participation in Church ministry, as well as its academic partnerships with theological institutions in the United States and Europe, particularly the St. John of Damascus Institute of Theology at the University of Balamand.

Throughout the discussion, Fr. Fadi emphasized that the mission of AHOS extends beyond the conferral of academic degrees. At its heart lies **the formation of generations of Orthodox Christians who unite theological knowledge, spiritual growth, and pastoral service**, while remaining deeply rooted in the rich theological and spiritual heritage of the Antiochian Orthodox tradition.

Under the spiritual leadership of His Eminence Metropolitan Saba (Isper), the Antiochian House of Studies continues its commitment to theological education, spiritual formation, and service to the Church, strengthening the bonds between the Antiochian Orthodox faithful in North America and their historical and spiritual roots.

Message of Condolence

From Metropolitan SABA to Archbishop Christophoros of Amman and Jordan

Monastery of Our Lady of Balamand, Lebanon, October 23, 2026
To our beloved, Most Reverend Archbishop Christophoros of Amman and Jordan,
On my behalf and the children in the Archdiocese of North America, I extend to you personally, the father of all Orthodox Christians in the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, and to all our brothers and sisters in beloved Jordan, especially the families of the martyrs and the wounded, my heartfelt condolences and sympathy. I condemn this brutal attack.
Our Lord said, "In the world you have tribulation; but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world" (John 16:33). We, the Christians of this afflicted East, still bear the marks of our Lord's physical suffering, and in this we take pride, to share in His suffering so that we may share in His resurrection. I also remember the many sons and daughters of the Archdiocese of Hauran who were martyred in a similar brutal attack at St. Elias Church in Damascus last year.
From Lebanon, where I am participating in the work of the Holy Synod of Antioch, I join my prayers with those of my sons and daughters in Christ in the Archdiocese of North America for the martyrs, all the wounded, their families, and all those who care for them in beloved Jordan, North America, and everywhere.
May God protect you and your flock everywhere. We Christians are children of the Resurrection, which we cannot separate from the Cross; therefore, we share the cry, "Christ is risen! Truly, He is risen!" Despite the violence inflicted upon us, He alone is victorious.

From the Tombs to the Feet of Christ

The Gospel of the Gadarene demoniac reveals the destructive power of evil — but, above all, the limitless power and mercy of Christ.

The man who once lived among the tombs, enslaved by a legion of demons, was restored to his right mind and found sitting at the feet of Jesus, clothed and healed.

His transformation reminds us that no darkness is beyond the reach of Christ. The passions that enslave us and the sins that divide our hearts need not define our lives. When we draw near to the Lord, He can restore what has been broken and renew us by His grace.

“It is no longer I who live, but Christ Who lives in me.” — Galatians 2:20

No darkness is beyond the reach of Christ’s healing power.

The 𝐀𝐧𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐜𝐡𝐢𝐚𝐧 𝐇𝐨𝐮𝐬𝐞 𝐨𝐟 𝐒𝐭𝐮𝐝𝐢𝐞𝐬 is pleased to announce that applications are now open for the 2027–28 𝐌𝐚𝐬𝐭𝐞𝐫 𝐨𝐟 𝐄𝐚𝐬𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐧 𝐎𝐫𝐭𝐡𝐨𝐝𝐨𝐱 𝐂𝐚𝐧𝐨𝐧 𝐋𝐚𝐰 (MCL), a newly accredited graduate program rooted in the canonical tradition of the Orthodox Church.

Bringing together theological depth, rigorous scholarship, and pastoral awareness, this program prepares clergy and lay students to engage the canonical life of the Church with knowledge, responsibility, and faithfulness.

✦ Program Highlights:

▸ 51 graduate credits across six semesters
▸ Study of the holy canons, Church governance, and contemporary canonical questions
▸ Canonical Greek and supervised thesis research

A one-week residency is required at the beginning of both the first and second years at the Antiochian Village in western Pennsylvania.

The Fall of Satan and the Victory of Christ

“I saw Satan fall like lightning from heaven.” — Luke 10:18

When the Seventy Apostles returned from their mission, rejoicing in the authority Christ had given them, the Lord revealed a greater victory: the defeat of Satan's dominion through His coming, Cross, and Resurrection.

What appeared to be the triumph of darkness became the very means of its defeat. Though the enemy continues to tempt and afflict humanity, his power is neither absolute nor beyond God's limits.

As we commemorate Saint Luke, we are reminded that our deepest reason for rejoicing is not earthly power or victory, but the grace of belonging to Christ.
