Our wonderful friends over at Special Needz Coffee came and visited us last week for the first time. Their presentation about inclusion and employment opportunities was very informative. They followed this up by hanging out with us all morning, serving up their delicious menu of tasty coffees.

It was such a hit with our community, that we had to invite them back… They are here with us again this morning!

Our amazing individuals took the stage and performed a Grease medley for Regional Center staff! And the applause and cheers at the end said it all. 👏🎶

Moments like this are why we do what we do. Watching our community step into the spotlight, own every note, and receive that recognition? There’s nothing like it. We are endlessly proud of each and every performer. They rehearsed for months, demonstrating tremendous talent, passion and discipline. Superstars. 🌟

Our folks went to the fair — and they showed out. 🎪

The Roland Center took a group outing to the LA County Fair, and watching our individuals shop the vendors, make their own purchases, and navigate the fairgrounds with confidence was a reminder of exactly why we do this work.

Community outings like this aren’t just fun. They’re how our folks build real-world skills, form connections with the broader community, and take their rightful place in public life — side by side with everyone else. Every trip like this chips away at stigma and replaces it with something better: familiarity, respect, and belonging.

To the families who trust us with your loved ones, and to the community partners who welcome our folks with open arms — thank you. This is what inclusion looks like.

Special Needz Coffee will be coming on-site this Thursday morning from 9AM - 12:30PM for an educational presentation and demonstration about what it's like and what it takes to work in the hospitality industry.

Today we pause to honor Ganzer Roland — a World War II veteran who came home from service and spent the rest of his life fighting a different kind of battle. The fight for his son's right to belong.

In 1960, Ganzer and his wife founded The Roland Center because Gunner deserved a life, not a waiting room. What they built became a community, an accredited organisation, and a home for hundreds of adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities over the past 65 years.

On Memorial Day, we remember those who served. We also remember what some of them came home and built — quietly, determinedly, out of love.

Thank you, Ganzer. And thank you to all who served.

In all seriousness, this is what it looks like when an organization genuinely commits to building around the people it serves. When someone arrives with a passion, a strength, a role they were born to fill, the job isn't to manage it. It's to make room for it.

Gary keeps us all safe, accountable, and honestly- a little more entertained. We wouldn't have it any other way.
