Earlier this month, PHFE WIC Program (Official), a program of Heluna Health, welcomed 1,749 community members to Whittier Narrows Park for its 5th Annual Family Resource Fair! 💛

Families explored information on child care and nutrition, and picked up diapers, toys, and baby supplies along the way. It was a joyful day of connecting parents and little ones with the support they need.

The day also included the annual Latch On event, a welcoming space for moms to breastfeed openly and without judgment. Moms were empowered and encouraged to feed their babies with confidence, surrounded by community support.

Thank you to the PHFE WIC team, department leads, and community partners. So much planning and work happened behind the scenes, and it shows in the smiles seen all day.

🎉 Celebrating Families, Strengthening Our Community! 🎉

PHFE WIC's 5th Annual Family Resource Fair brought our community together last week at Whittier Narrows Park for a day filled with connection, joy, and support for families! 💙

With 1,749 attendees and 25 community vendors, our Celebrating Families event connected families with essential resources, including child care, lead prevention information, nutrition education, toys, diapers, baby supplies, and so much more! ❤️

A heartfelt thank-you to our dedicated WIC staff, department leads, and community partners for their collaboration, commitment, and countless behind the scenes efforts that made this event possible. Your hard work helps ensure families feel supported, connected, and empowered with the resources they need to thrive.

Together, we're building a healthier, stronger future for families in our community!

More than 20 years of building a stronger community through early education.

At our Client Recognition Awards last month, we were proud to present Long Beach Early Childhood Education (LBECE) with our Annual Performance Award.

A Heluna Health partner since 2017, LBECE brings together families, children, and early childhood professionals through its annual Symposium and Early Learning & Kindergarten Festivals. Each year, the Symposium draws more than 400 professionals for 30 bilingual workshops, and the festivals give hundreds of families backpacks, bilingual books, oral health kits, dental screenings, and educational resources.

Keeping the mission on course through uncertain times.

At our Client Recognition Awards last month, we were proud to present the SF Public Health's Center for Learning and Innovation (CLI) with our Quarterly Award for Overcoming Challenges to Achieve Success.

CLI advances health equity by training and coaching staff and partners, mentoring emerging public health professionals, testing new technologies, and building partnerships across sectors.

Despite delays, reductions, and evolving compliance requirements tied to shifts in federal funding, the team adapted and kept critical services running with minimal disruption for the communities they serve.

Ten years in and still growing stronger.

At our Client Recognition Awards last month, we were proud to present CinnaMoms, a program of PHFE WIC Program (Official), with our Quarterly Award for Longevity.

What began in 2015 with the mission to increase breastfeeding support among Black women in PHFE WIC has grown into a movement. Today, CinnaMoms offers culturally congruent breastfeeding and parenthood support circles at nine PHFE WIC offices in LA County, giving mothers a safe space to share traditions, experiences, and community.

In 2023, the program opened CinnaMoms Crenshaw, a dedicated space where families can “rest, nest, and connect.”

At our Client Recognition Awards last month, we were proud to present Saving Our Legacy (The SOL Project) with our Quarterly Award for Overcoming Challenges to Achieve Success.

Based in Sacramento, The SOL Project has been a partner of Heluna Health for nearly 20 years. The organization advocates for healthy, smoke-free communities for African Americans and other populations disproportionately affected by to***co use and the social conditions that drive it.

After a budget reduction, the team leaned on partnerships with aligned organizations to secure supplemental funding for work across two programs. They also earned a prize from the National Institutes of Health (NIH) along the way.

More than 30 years of showing up for families. 💙

Last month at our Client Recognition Awards, we were proud to present Carolyn Kordich Family Resource Center (CKFRC) with our Quarterly Award for Longevity.

For three decades, CKFRC has been a trusted lifeline for expectant parents and families raising children who have, or are at risk of, disabilities. Through resource referrals, parent-to-parent support groups, and education, the center serves families across Manhattan Beach, Torrance, Catalina Island, and Long Beach, and supports the professionals who serve those families, too.

We’ve been honored to partner with CKFRC since 2014 and have seen firsthand what lasting commitment looks like: practical guidance, genuine peer connection, and a steady presence for families when they need it most.

"The best gift I can give to the patients I work with is hope and options."

Amee Gray learned these words from her mother, a social worker who spent the '80s serving patients through the HIV and co***ne epidemics. Decades later, they became the guiding principle behind RecoverWell.

Gray lost her own father to addiction and mental health challenges. Despite years of experience in healthcare, she found the system nearly impossible to navigate in the middle of a crisis. If she couldn't find the help he needed in time, how could any family?

So she built the solution. RecoverWell, a Heluna Health partner, connects people facing addiction, mental health challenges, and housing instability to vetted treatment and recovery services, pairing each patient with a Care Manager. Today, more than 4,000 patients have accessed addiction treatment alone, with many more connected to broader health and social services.

As World Mental Health Day approaches on October 10, Amee's story is a reminder that access to care shouldn't depend on how well you can navigate a maze while in crisis. Heluna Health is honored to stand behind RecoverWell, handling the grants and operational infrastructure so Amee and her team can keep giving patients hope and options.
