If you knew Frances Bean, you knew her heart for helping people.

She spent decades volunteering in her community, supporting charitable causes, raising funds for families in need and lifting up countless people through quiet acts of kindness. Frances always found a way to give back.

We were blessed to see it firsthand through her tremendous support of LifeStyles and our mission. We were deeply saddened to learn of her passing earlier this month.

Today, we join communities across the nation in recognizing Juneteenth — a day that marks the end of slavery in the United States and celebrates freedom, perseverance, and hope.

In observance of the holiday, LifeStyles' offices, day programs and Distribution Center will be closed.

Our 24/7 Emergency Shelter remains open and serving those who need a safe place to stay.

Representatives from LifeStyles of Maryland and several other amazing local organizations recently joined hundreds of partners from across Maryland for the ENOUGH Learning Community gathering in Cambridge.

CEO Sandy Washington and Human & Support Services Manager Kenyatta Thompson formed the LifeStyles contingent. Thompson oversees LifeStyles' efforts through the ENOUGH Initiative.

They were joined by three amazing community partners — Patty Stine ofPure Play Every Day, Inc., Debborah Collins of Mi Gente Unidos En Accion, and Sapreen Khalaifeh from the Charles County Local Management Board.

The group reveled in the collaboration and communication at the event, returning home with new ideas and a renewed commitment to working together to end child poverty in Southern Maryland.

Donors can now choose to give through appreciated stocks, mutual funds, Qualified Charitable Distributions or planned gifts.
