📚✏️ Welcome back, students!

A new school year brings new opportunities to learn, grow, and thrive. 💙 We’re excited to support children and families across Charles County with access to mental health care right where students are — at school.

Wishing all of our students, families, teachers, and school staff a safe, successful, and wonderful school year! 🍎

It was such an honor to see our community come together for the Ties & Tiaras Daddy-Daughter Dance! 💙👑

A heartfelt thank you to Boothe’s Heating, Air, Plumbing, Drains & Electrical for hosting such a wonderful event and choosing to support the Center for Children. Your generosity and commitment help us continue providing hope, healing, and prevention services to children and families throughout our community.

Thank you to every dad, daughter, sponsor, and supporter who made this evening so special. Together, we’re making a difference one child, one family, and one community at a time. 💙

This story is a powerful reminder that behind every statistic is a child and a future worth fighting for. Child abuse and neglect impact far too many children in our communities, but together, we can recognize the signs, intervene early, and help children find safety, healing, and hope.

At Center for Children, we are committed to preventing child abuse and supporting children and families affected by abuse, trauma and neglect.

Know the signs. A child may be experiencing abuse if you notice unexplained injuries, sudden changes in behavior, withdrawal, fear of going home, poor hygiene, age-inappropriate sexual behaviors or knowledge, or significant changes in eating, sleeping, or school performance. While these signs do not always mean abuse is occurring, they should never be ignored.

💙 You can help make a difference:
• Learn the signs of child abuse and speak up if something doesn’t seem right.
• Share this post to help raise awareness.
• Donate to support prevention programs and life-changing services for children and families.
• Encourage families in need to seek help before a crisis occurs.

Every child deserves to grow up in a safe, healthy, and nurturing environment. Together, we can protect children and build a safe community for all.

Neural Nugget: Babies who are talked to frequently know about 300 more words by age 2 than babies who hear fewer words, giving them a stronger foundation for language and learning.

One of the best ways to support healthy brain development is through serve-and-return interactions: the back-and-forth of talking, playing, making faces, and responding to your baby's sounds and cues. These everyday moments help build the brain, one interaction at a time.

Curious about what's happening inside your baby's brain? Explore our Baby Brain Map, an interactive guide that makes the science of early brain development easy to understand and put into practice: https://bit.ly/4w3j4jg
