Unabashedly self-proclaimed the “most dynamic Rotary Club in the world,” La Jolla Golden Triangle Rotary is one of the top-performing clubs not only in the San Diego/Imperial Counties District – but around the world. "The Most Dynamic Rotary Club in the World!” La Jolla Golden Triangle Rotary Club is consistently one of the top-performing clubs not only in the San Diego/Imperial Counties District, but indeed in the world. Recent success include:

Operation Pendleton -- refurbishing barracks and meeting facilities at Camp Pendleton Marine Base. Afghanistan Redevelopment -- building schools, technology & other centers at the university, and community-building programs in Jalalabad, Afghanistan. South Africa Improvements – developing water projects and healthcare programs for AIDS orphans. Project Refuge – assisting local refugees who have few resources after being granted asylum in the U.S. from violence and persecution in their native countries. Join us for a sample of the energy and enthusiasm that has launched so many projects, touched so many lives, and achieved so much international impact. We meet every Friday morning at 7:00 am at the UCSD Faculty Club.

⛈️ This Friday: "Winter '26: The Coming Storms" with Gary Robbins

Join La Jolla Golden Triangle Rotary this Friday, September 4, as we welcome Gary Robbins, veteran reporter for The San Diego Union-Tribune.

With forecasters watching El Niño closely, Gary will give us an inside look at how the U-T is preparing its storm coverage for this fall and winter — and how the newsroom will collaborate with first responders when the weather turns.

Gary's path to journalism started in 1972, when a classic Cary Grant newspaper comedy inspired a Maine teenager to walk into his local weekly and ask for a shot at writing. Five decades later, his career has taken him from covering the Cuban and Haitian boatlifts in Florida, to 25 years as a science and technology writer at the Orange County Register, to the U-T, where he's covered science, universities, the military, and the weather since 2010. He was also a Knight Science Fellow at MIT and has taught journalism at USC and Cal State Long Beach.

This promises to be a timely and fascinating conversation you won't want to miss. See you Friday!
