“My favorite part of this role has been getting to meet all of our new incoming transfers and getting to assist them in the support they need in order to be successful in their time here at UCSD!” - Jay

“A.S. has helped prepare me for this role by bringing my experience in team collaboration and event planning. A.S. ON THE JOB W/ ISABELLA RAIGOZA (Forensic Archivist for the Los Angeles Police Department) 

1.What has your favorite part of the experience been?
“This role has brought me a step closer to a prospective career in forensic autopsies, which has made this experience especially meaningful for me. My favorite part has been gaining firsthand experience within a forensic laboratory setting and learning more about the different paths within the field. When people think of forensics, they often think of it as one type of job, when in reality, it encompasses so many different divisions and career paths. With that being said, it can be difficult to even get your foot in the door in this field. Being able to read cold case files firsthand, meet forensic scientists, and volunteer within the LAPD forensic system has been an incredible privilege.” - Isabella

2.How has AS helped you in this position?
“Coming into my first official year as an A.S. Marketing Coordinator has taught me the importance of clear communication and persistence. The process of getting my archivist role took a lot of emailing and networking, but I stayed persistent. Once I began my role, I was able to comfortably collaborate with other volunteers as we filed cases together efficiently, mirroring the teamwork and communication skills I’ve developed with my ASMC team… just in a very different setting.” - Isabella

“My favorite part of the internship has been not only learning about community/labor organizing but also experiencing happening in real time and being able to be a part of those efforts. It has shown me how politicians and community organizers interact to create change in their community through policy.” - Arya

“A.S. has been helpful in understanding how decisions are made especially when approaching policy through a top-down approach. It has also helped me develop my confidence in the workplace, and communication and project management skills. “My favorite part of my internship so far is the cultural exchange. Gaining a better understanding of how other legal systems operate allows me to view my own legal system from a new perspective, especially as an International Studies major. Additionally, researching and working with real legislation provides genuine hands-on experience that not many individuals my age can say they have!” - Chamiru

“AS has helped me understand the setting within which legislation is passed. That serves as an important foundation for me to analyze large bills and laws through a macro lens rather than in a vacuum. Whether it be through their critical questions about the selection criteria, insight on Excel functions to expedite analyses, or gracefully handling tough stubhub heartbreaks, there’s something to be inspired by in everyone I work with and I love being challenged to model parts of myself after them.” - Yera

“My time in AS has taught me what meaningful community engagement looks like.
