SBLF is a nation-building blueprint—a private economic plan engineered by us, for us. I am very proud to have created this unique closed-loop opportunity for our community. If you could just see it for what it is vs the dependency on any and everything outside of ourselves, the rest would be history.

We’ve been here before just on a smaller scale. Think of towns like Mound Bayou, Black Wall Street in Tulsa, Rosewood, and the Jackson Ward in Richmond. Our people knew exactly what they needed to do and why. So they built. It’s past time to match their energy.

Day 1 of the Sovereign Mobilization. I am walking 7,000 steps every day until we wake up.

The plan was to walk alone; that is no longer the case today, and every day I’ll carry the full weight of our family and our ancestors with me. The moment we decide to change the trajectory of our entire community is the moment that weight shifts.

In 1860, prior to the Civil War and the Emancipation Proclamation, 3.95 million of our family members were classified as slaves. Another 488K were free. My grandfather, whom I lived with, also lived with his grandparents, who were formerly enslaved. We are, in fact, closer to slavery than far from it.
