Ancora Ministries

Ancora Ministries We Feed Kids! Working in CenTex & Guatemala. Nutrition, clean water & community development programs. We envision a local community where NO child is hungry.

We envision a Guatemala where NO child suffers from malnutrition. We believe that God has a plan for every single child. We partner with vulnerable and underserved communities in Central Texas and Guatemala to make sure children have their the fundamental needs met so that they can be everything they were created to be! What does that look like?
1. It looks like food and nutrition programs so tha

t children can develop to their full potential, and perform at their best because they aren't hungry all the time.
2. It looks like clean water programs so that families can drink water that isn't contaminated with f***l matter (p**p), bacteria, parasites, and other pathogens that make them sick all the time.
3.. It looks like community projects like road improvements, building onto village schools, and health initiatives like anti-parsite treatment for kids.
4. It looks like education programs so that our partner communities can become more resilient, self-sufficient and begin to create opportunitiies for success. Ancora is 100% funded by people who share our passion for helping children and families be everything they were created to be.

$5 will provide nutrition for a child in Guatemala for a month.
$20 will provide weekend food bags for a food-insecure child in Central Texas for a month. You can make a difference today by setting up a monthly donation at https://ancoraministries.org/donate!

Our Level The Field shoe project was a little bit under the radar this year, but that didn't stop our amazing team from making it happen! This week, we provided 152 pairs of athletic shoes to local middle school coaches, to make sure that every kid who wants to compete in Athletics has the right footwear!

Middle school is hard enough. When you feel like you don't fit in, it's even harder. Level The Field is a way to remove one of the barriers to participation by making sure kids FEEL like they belong on the field or the court. Because they do!

Thank you to all of our generous partners who invested in our kids through Level The Field this year! And especially to the fearless superstar who leads the charge every year - Brigid Anderson!

This "atol break" is brought to you by our School Lunch Program in El Sauce, Guatemala. Did you know that Ancora provides a hot, nutritious lunch to 50 children every day at the school kitchen you helped us build back in 2022? Atol, a hot porridge-y drink that is usually enriched with supplementary nutrients, is a common drink in Latin America, and pops up on our menu once or twice a week.

Here's your linguistics lesson for today: Guatemalan Spanish drops the "e" from certain words. For example, if your Spanish has its influence from Mexico, you probably say "atole," "tamale," and "guacamole." But in Guatemala, we say "atol," "tamal," and "guacamol." So, if you were thinking, "These jokers can't spell "atole" correctly," now you know we were just using a different dialect than you are used to.

Que chilero! (Which means, "That's cool!")

Last week, I (Trey) had the chance to tour one of our partner schools. It's one of our highest need schools - 93% of its 600+ students are classified as "economically disadvantaged." Currently, there are 150 students receiving a Feed Kids Right Now food bag every week, but that number is low, and we are working with the school to increase our support so that every hungry child who needs help on the weekends can receive it.

When we got to the school cafeteria, our host said something that I can't stop hearing. She said, "We have a group of students during each lunch period who help with table cleanup. We have a lot of kids who volunteer for this, because they look for uneaten food that got left on the table, to take with them."

Kids are foraging for food. At school. Right here in our communities. These are KIDS. They laugh, they play, they do the same things your kids do. And they aren't getting enough to eat.

We don't think kids should go hungry.
Kids who have enough to eat do better at every significant metric we use to measure success. Ancora was created so that we could help as many kids as possible have access to food and nutrition. Because food is hope.

No child should be looking for food to take home at the end of their lunch period. If you believe that, we invite you to join us by becoming a monthly donor to Ancora. Go to AncoraMinistries.org and choose the "Join Project Zero" button.

Ancora is a mission organization working to bring nutrition and health programs to vulnerable populations in Guatemala and our local community.

Peanut Butter Bowl wraps up this weekend, and the Drip Tigers have once again come to win. This week, the Tigers are sitting at #6 out of 121 schools in the online giving rankings.
The Tigers have done it by having the MOST INDIVIDUAL DONORS out of all the schools. Thanks, fans, for participating!

Online giving closes at midnight tomorrow night, so you still have a chance to help get the Tigers back to #1 by giving generously at PeanutButterBowl.com/give/ and choosing Dripping Springs Tigers in the dropdown menu. Every dollar donated feed kids in Dripping Springs ISD through the Dripping With Hope weekend food program. Dripping Springs High School

We made it. Launch Week for the Feed Kids Right Now program happened, and despite a few hiccups, nearly 800 kids in Hays, Caldwell, and Travis Counties are going home with food this weekend and will come back to school on Monday with full tummies.
This is our 8th year, and Launch Week is always a little hectic. Throw in the New Outpost and all of the new ways of doing things, and you get extra doses of both CHAOS and AWESOME.

We will happily take a deep breath this weekend and rest some rest. And then next week, we'll add 10 more schools and at least 700 more kids, and we'll do this all over again.
We don't think kids should be hungry, so this is what we do.
If you'd like to be a part of it, go to FeedKidsRightNow.com and take action.
