Navigating public settings with FTD can sometimes be challenging. ❤️

AFTD’s Awareness Cards help people living with FTD, as well as their care partners, explain how the disease may affect behavior or communication. General FTD cards are available, along with cards specific to behavioral variant FTD (bvFTD) and primary progressive aphasia (PPA).

Available in English and Spanish, these wallet-sized cards are easy to carry and can help others better understand your experience.

November is National Family Caregivers Month. ❤️

This month and always, we recognize the care partners who support loved ones living with frontotemporal degeneration (FTD). We honor the compassion, patience, and dedication they bring to a journey that can be challenging in many ways.

To all FTD care partners, thank you for all that you do. You are an important part of the FTD community.

What is anosognosia, and how can it affect people living with FTD? ❤️

Anosognosia is the inability to recognize or understand one’s own illness and its associated limitations. It is a hallmark symptom of FTD, particularly behavioral variant FTD (bvFTD).

Meaningful support starts with connection. ❤️

AFTD is seeking Peer Support Volunteers to connect one-on-one with care partners navigating the challenges of frontotemporal degeneration (FTD). Through compassionate conversations and sharing relevant resources, volunteers can help care partners feel heard and find support along the way.

Interested in becoming a volunteer? Join an upcoming Volunteer Intro Session to learn more about the opportunity and how to get involved with AFTD.

3 things people often misunderstand about FTD. 🧠

FTD does not primarily affect memory loss. Instead, it impacts behavior, communication, and movement. Most cases occur between ages 45 and 60, and each person’s experience with FTD can be different.
