Through our John G. Zinnah memorial scholarship funds, GongowaeNawae aims to provide local children with scholarships and much-needed school supplies. We'll continue those scholarship efforts through the period of their high school to college education, making sure that students can be educated fully under difficult circumstances.

A little more about Gbarma and Us….

Gbarma District is one of the 5 districts located in Gbarpolu County, in the northern portion of Liberia, West Africa with a population of less than 16,000 people (lib. 2008 census report). Prior to the civil uprising in Liberia, Gbarma was a statutory district, including the Kongba chiefdom, with natural resources and great potential for development.

The major highways and roads leading into local towns were paved; the people had access to medical through local clinics and the educational infrastructure included a private mission with several functional high schools throughout the district.

The civil wars fought for over 10 years in Liberia have devastated the area with most of the people living below the poverty line and underserved.

GongowaeNawae recognizes the enormous opportunity and responsibility, among its membership living around the world, to reimagine and ensure that we create inclusive economic chances to benefit the people of Gbarma district.

We believe that together, we can have an impact.

We are calling on our friends, citizens and membership to join us in our efforts to voluntarily give back.

Our commitments and efforts include:

 Identifying and coordinating philanthropy efforts to get support to the people in Gbarma district.

 Organizing, bringing the citizens and friends together annually in furtherance of the organization goals

 Creating educational opportunities for youth in the district- providing a pathway for annual John Z. Scholarship for education through the annual John G. Zinnah’s memorial scholarship program.

 Leveraging support and development opportunities for the people while promoting independence in farming and other agricultural projects

Our operations depend on membership dues and goodwill-donation for the furtherance of our goal to serve as a resource for Gbarma district. So, we are calling on everyone to join in and help. As a 501c, your donation is tax deductible and will make a difference in the lives of the people.
