💙💛 What an incredible day for Project Connect 2026!💛💙

Today was a wonderful reminder of what makes St. Joseph such a special community — People Helping People!❤️

We had an amazing turnout, with approximately 200–300 people coming together for Project Connect! It was a day filled with community connections, valuable resources, collaboration, and organizations working together to make a difference in the lives of others.

A HUGE thank you to the Community Missions team for all your hard work and dedication in making this event possible!

A very special shoutout to Chasity McCourt for taking the lead in organizing and coordinating this event! Your hard work, leadership, and commitment to our community truly shined today! We appreciate everything you did to bring this event together! 👏❤️

To every organization, agency, volunteer, and community partner who participated — THANK YOU! Your willingness to show up, share resources, and serve others is what makes our community stronger.

At Community Missions, we know that no single organization can do it all. It takes partnerships, collaboration, and people who genuinely care about making a difference.

Our flowers at the shelter are blooming, bringing a little extra beauty, color, and joy to our space! ❤️

Sometimes, it's the little things that make the biggest difference. These flowers are a beautiful reminder that growth, hope, and new beginnings can happen anywhere.

Just like the flowers, the individuals we serve deserve the opportunity to grow, flourish, and experience brighter days ahead. 🌱💕

A New Chapter Begins! 🏡🌱
We are excited to celebrate a new beginning for one of our residents who has recently secured housing! His journey with Community Missions began at Haven House on June 8, 2018, before transitioning to Juda House on May 5, 2021. After years of being part of our campus community, we are thrilled to see him take this next step toward a place of his own.
Milestones like these remind us why we do what we do. Housing is more than having a roof overhead; it is an opportunity for stability, independence, and a fresh start. We are proud to have been part of his journey and look forward to seeing what this next chapter holds for him. Here’s to new beginnings, new opportunities, and a place to call home! ❤️

The City of St. Joseph will continue its targeted neighborhood improvement initiative with a Community Health and Safety Fair from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, October 24, at Patee Park, located at 10th and Seneca streets.

The event is designed for residents living in the Patee Park neighborhood, bounded by South Ninth to South 18th streets between Messanie Street and Mitchell Avenue. The fair brings together City staff from the police, fire, health and planning and community development departments with other local partners to provide resources, education and neighborhood support in a family-friendly environment.

With the event occurring just a week before Halloween, the organizations attending will have trick-or-treating for kids at their tables.

Other activities and services at the fair will include:
-Dumpsters for area residents to use during neighborhood cleanup efforts. No hazardous materials will be accepted.
-Free smoke detectors and batteries distributed by the St. Joseph Fire Department through donations from Home Depot and Shelter Insurance’s Matt Cathey and John Anderson.
-Information and resources provided by the Health Department.
-Free pet microchips and other items from Animal Services.
-Information on zoning, historic areas, rental programs, dangerous buildings, Community Development Block Grant programs, building permits and business licenses.
-Information and resources from local agencies.
-Bounce houses and games for children.

The Community Health and Safety Fair is intended to strengthen relationships between residents and City staff in a non-enforcement setting. This is the City’s third health and safety fair following similar events held last fall in the College Hill Park neighborhood and this summer at John Lucas Park. The fairs are part of a broader holistic strategy focused on improving neighborhood health and safety through education, enforcement and cleanup efforts.

City officials use various data points, along with mapping tools that identify neighborhoods that may benefit from these concentrated improvement efforts. Two neighborhoods each year are selected for this initiative.

As part of the program, police officers and code enforcement staff conduct joint neighborhood walkthroughs to identify concerns and connect residents with available resources. Additional law enforcement presence, enhanced parking enforcement, cleanup efforts, w**d abatement and action on vacant structures are also part of the strategy to improve neighborhood conditions and quality of life.

Officials hope the efforts will lead to increased knowledge of available resources and reduced crime and code violations while increasing residents’ sense of safety and satisfaction within their neighborhoods.
