A Great Start to the School Year!

School is back in session, and our Before & After School Program is officially underway at the Thornberry Unit! But before welcoming Club members back, our Thornberry Unit spent the weekend helping families get ready for the year ahead.

In partnership with Cornell Ellis and Brothers Liberating Our Communities (BLOC), along with Genesis School, the Clubs hosted a Back-to-School event that brought families and community partners together for a day that felt like one big family reunion.

Families received free physicals and vision screenings, haircuts, food, community resources, and backpacks filled with school supplies. And there was plenty of fun, too - live music, a drill team, horseback riding, a petting zoo, face painting, a bounce house, and more!

A huge thank you to Lillian Carter, Target, all of the vendors, community partners, and volunteers who helped make the day possible. 💙

Olathe Advisory Board Member Spotlight: Tyler Dalrymple 💙

Tyler is a Senior Project Manager with McCownGordon Construction, a local Kansas City-based general contractor, and is from Overland Park, KS. He lives and works in the Olathe community he serves and has completed many Projects in the city, including the Olathe Indian Creek Library and numerous Olathe Public Schools projects. As a Senior Project Manager, Tyler is tasked with leading and overseeing teams on local Kansas City construction projects. He is a 2019 Leadership Olathe graduate. He is an active member and serves within the Church of the Resurrection West, an Olathe based Methodist denomination. Tyler has an Architectural Engineering degree from the University of Kansas with an emphasis in Construction Management.

to an incredible summer experience for members of our Keystone Club, a teen leadership group, who attended the Keystone Conference in Orlando, Florida!

Throughout the conference, Club teens participated in sessions focused on leadership, community service, networking, and emotional well-being.

And, of course, one of the highlights of the trip was staying at a Disney Resort and spending a magical day at Magic Kingdom! 🏰✨
