Greetings all!
At Undercurrent Collective, we strive to create programming that inspires, illuminates, and ignites our NEA community, and we are committed to ensuring our mission is focused on the people here in the region. Now more than ever, we believe it is important to affirm our commitment to enriching the lives of people and encouraging them to pursue artistic endeavors throughout their lives.
With this being said, Undercurrent Collective is proud to stand in support of creative authenticity and in solidarity with local, human artists. We believe that generative AI has no place in our programming, promotions, or platform, and never will. The privilege of collaborating with local creatives, businesses, and other nonprofits has proved incredibly enriching, and is an experience we would never assign to a prompt.
As we move into Year 2 of UCC, it’s essential to our mission that we involve humans in every step of the creative process: from directing, acting, and singing, to prop design, set building, and costume creation. That’s why we’re so passionate about process, growth, and creating meaningful changes in our community through sustained action. We have a small, talented and dedicated board that is proud to contribute their skills without the use of generative AI, and we like it that way. While it may seem small to some, we’re hopeful that this continual commitment to human expression will serve in the best interests of our local arts initiatives and longterm collective action in the future.
