The Community Health Education Foundation has a mission to serve the community in health education & prevention of disease through a wide array of health education programs, screenings and partnerships:
CHEF is a national partner with, and the only organization in Arkansas, that has joined the National, Heart, Lung & Blood Institute (NHLBI) by sponsoring The Heart Truth campaign, and provides one
of the leading educational and screening events in the nation! CHEF is known as one of the smallest NHLBI partner groups, but one that packs the largest punch in reducing women’s risks of heart disease through their educational impact in this community. We have been recognized 4 years in a row for our work at the Mercedes Benz Fashion Show in New York City. CHEF is vital in bringing a wide array of cardiovascular health education and free screening opportunities to thousands of people each year. CHEF conducts The Red Dress Gala to promote awareness to women of their risk for heart disease and to raise funds to continue education and screenings for the prevention and treatment of heart disease
CHEF offers the largest Women’s Health Conference in the state that provides screenings and educational events for women of all ages and ethnic backgrounds. These screenings include EKG’s, Blood Pressure, Cholesterol, Glucose, Carotid Artery, Osteoporosis, Mammograms, Dental & Eye checks, along with an array of educational sessions with topics important to women. All screenings are totally free to serve any woman regardless of income. CHEF’s AED Placement Program provides automated external defibrillators to schools, churches, and community centers in Arkansas. Our organization has placed 50 to date. CHEF provides an annual Diabetes Education Conference in January. We provide screening and education for people, who are diabetics, think they may have diabetes and are care givers of diabetics. All screenings are totally free to all regardless of ethnicity or income. We also promote corporate wellness and conduct several worksite site free screenings and education days at businesses. From absenteeism due to illness to the cost of disability and workers’ compensation, poor health costs the U.S. economy more than a half a trillion dollars a year, according to a new study by a nonprofit research organization. CHEF provides an annual Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease Education Conference in November. We provide screening and education for people, who may have a family history of COPD, have COPD and are care givers of those with COPD. CHEF is preparing to unroll a new Childhood Nutrition and Obesity program to offer through our public schools to families and children free of charge. This is an overview of the main programs provided through our organization and group of volunteers. We have several more that we conduct and partner with other organizations to support.
