💗 Wearing Pink for Shawnie! 💗

Today, the NEA Children’s Advocacy Center is wearing pink in honor of our Executive Director, Shawnie, as she continues her fight with cancer.

Shawnie dedicates so much of her heart to helping children and families in our community, and this month, we’re proud to show her just how much she means to us. We’re standing beside her, surrounding her with love, and reminding her that she is never fighting alone.

We love you, Shawnie! We’re pink for you, cheering you on every step of the way! 💗

We enjoyed spending the morning at the A-State Social Work BSW Field Fair! ❤️

The NEA Children’s Advocacy Center (NEACAC) was excited to connect with future social workers, share more about our mission, and discuss the many ways we work to provide hope, healing, and justice for children and families across Northeast Arkansas.

Thank you to Arkansas State University’s Social Work Department for hosting this wonderful opportunity to connect students with community agencies and explore future internship and career opportunities in social work.

Representing NEACAC were Maritza Blake, Advocate; Claire Roscoe, Forensic Interviewer/Advocate; Karah Hayes, Social Work Intern and Brooke O’Neill, Programs Director. Dr. Rashele Wade, NEACAC Board Chair, also stopped by to join us for a photo!

We are grateful for opportunities like these to build connections, support future social workers, and continue strengthening the network of professionals dedicated to protecting and advocating for children in our community. 💙

A huge thank you to our United Way Day of Caring team for spending time at the NEA Children’s Advocacy Center! 💙

These amazing volunteers rolled up their sleeves and helped give our center a much-needed refresh by pressure washing our sidewalks, soffits and cleaning our windows. ✨

While they were here, we also had the opportunity to share our center, our mission, and the “why” behind the work they were doing. We love being able to show our community how their time and service directly contribute to creating a welcoming, safe, and comfortable environment for the children and families we serve.

And we had a special visitor stop by, too! Courtney Crawford, NEACAC Board Member, brought some sweet treats for the United Way team as a little thank-you for their hard work. 🧁💙

We are so grateful for the time, energy, and heart this team poured into our center. Thank you for caring about our community and helping support the mission of the NEA Children’s Advocacy Center!

Recently, the NEA Children’s Advocacy Center staff traveled to Springdale, Arkansas for a few days of learning, connection and much-needed renewal.

Our team spent the day at the Children's Safety Center of Washington County touring their facility, learning more about their programs and services, and participating in a day of training in GAP Trauma Therapy. We are grateful for the opportunity to learn from others in the Children’s Advocacy Center community and bring that knowledge back to the children and families we serve.

Then came a day to simply breathe, recharge and enjoy one another. From the serene views of the Ozarks and a little shopping to great food, fellowship and group pedicures, our team had the chance to step away from the office and enjoy some time together. 🌿🛍️🍽️💅

The work our staff does every day involves incredibly difficult conversations and helping children and families navigate unimaginable experiences. It is meaningful work, but it is also heavy work.

Days like this give our team the opportunity to step away, reconnect, laugh, build relationships and return with renewed energy and a fresh perspective.

We are grateful for this team and for the work they pour into the children and families of Northeast Arkansas every single day. 💙

Today, our fierce leader, Shawnie, rang the gong after completing her 33rd radiation treatment for breast cancer! 🔔

She’s been through so much and has continued to lead, work, and show up for others every step of the way. We couldn’t be more proud of her strength and perseverance.

This is one milestone in a journey that isn’t over yet, but today we celebrate this moment and this incredible woman.

We love you, Shawnie, and we’re with you all the way! 🩷

💜 Welcome to the NEACAC, Alex! 💜

We are so excited to welcome Alex Emmons to the NEA Children’s Advocacy Center (NEACAC) as our new Mental Health Intern! 🎉

Alex is a third-year student in the Clinical Mental Health Counseling program at Arkansas State University, with a focus on Child-Centered Play Therapy (CCPT). She also recently trained in Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT) through ARBEST.

From her very first interview, Alex knew the NEACAC was the place for her. She was drawn to our focus on child healing, safety, and advocacy, and especially appreciated the collaboration among child welfare professionals throughout the NEA community.

We are thrilled to have Alex join our team and can’t wait to see all she will bring to the CAC and the children and families we serve. 💜

💙 WELCOME TO THE NEA CHILDREN’S ADVOCACY CENTER, KARAH! 💙

We are so excited to welcome Karah Hayes, our new Social Work Intern, to the NEA Children’s Advocacy Center team!

Karah is a fourth-year social work student at Arkansas State University and is originally from Rector, Arkansas. She has always had a heart for children and is especially passionate about mental health and working with children and families.

When she’s not busy with school or her internship, Karah enjoys spending time with her fiancé, Andrew, and their two dogs, Lucy and Marley. She also loves shopping and anything and everything FALL! 🍂🎃☕️

We are thrilled to have Karah joining our team and look forward to watching her learn, grow and make a difference in the lives of the children and families we serve.

❤️ What a great day at the ASU Community Fair! 🐺

We were so excited to spend yesterday at the Arkansas State University Community Fair, connecting with students, faculty, staff, and so many wonderful people in our community!

Events like this give us the opportunity to share more about the NEA Children’s Advocacy Center, our mission, and the important work we do to provide hope, healing, and a voice for children who have experienced abuse.

We’re grateful for the warm welcome, the conversations, the connections, and the opportunity to be part of the ASU community!
