Kiwanis of Greater Jonesboro AR The Kiwanis Club of Jonesboro is a civic and service organization open to residents of the Jonesboro area.

Weekly meetings are held on Wednesdays featuring a wide variety of programs. The Kiwanis Club uses its resources to benefit the community, especially its children. Each year the Kiwanis Club of Jonesboro presents three 1-year scholarships to high school seniors to attend Arkansas State University — one each from Jonesboro, Nettleton and Valley View schools. In addition to those “Pop” Parrish schol

arships, Pancake Day proceeds and other fund-raising efforts allow the club to help many area organizations. Kiwanis sponsors area high school Key Clubs and a Circle K organization at ASU.

The incumbent Division 5 judge, Charles “Skip” Mooney Jr., addressed the Kiwanis Club and answered questions on Wednesday. He was the only one of the three candidates for the position to attend our scheduled program on the Division 5 race. Chief Public Defender Brian Miles of Paragould sent word earlier Wednesday that he’d had a death in his family and he would not be able to participate. Luther Sutter, a Jonesboro attorney, had agreed to participate but did not show up.
