We are an affiliate of the Society for Human Resource Management based in Northeast Arkansas.

The Northeast Arkansas Society for Human Resource Management was chartered in 1977 with 27 members. Our current membership is over 100, all of whom are national SHRM members. We are located in Jonesboro, Arkansas, and our membership consists of human resources professionals primarily from Craighead and Greene Counties in Arkansas.

At the 16th Annual NEA SHRM Supervisor Seminar, we are honored to welcome Travis Reynolds, Safety Coordinator with Nucor-Yamato Steel, for a powerful Session : ⚠️ FIGHT MODE: ACTIVATED! — The Travis Reynolds Story

Travis began his Nucor career in 2014 at Nucor Steel Memphis. In March 2015, he experienced a life-threatening workplace incident that forever changed the way he viewed safety—not just as a workplace responsibility, but as something that impacts teammates, spouses, children, families, and entire communities.

After multiple surgeries and procedures, Travis returned to Nucor in 2017 and continued building his career through roles in sales and safety. He went on to serve as a Safety Coordinator at Nucor Steel Memphis and joined Nucor Steel Arkansas in 2023, using his personal experience and knowledge to help strengthen its safety culture. Today, he serves as a Safety Coordinator at Nucor-Yamato Steel, continuing his commitment to protecting teammates and helping ensure everyone goes home safely.

During this session, Travis will challenge leaders to think differently about the role they play in workplace safety.

🛡️ PERSONAL ACCOUNTABILITY — Understand how individual choices and a strong safety culture can prevent injuries and protect others.

A native Arkansan raised on a family farm in the Ouachita Mountains, JJ developed an early appreciation for Arkansas's outdoors. After earning his biology degree from the University of Central Arkansas and even spending a year gathering data aboard commercial fishing vessels off the Alaskan coast, his career eventually brought him to the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission (AGFC).

Today, JJ brings more than 21 years of experience with AGFC to his leadership role. As Assistant Chief of Fishing Education, he leads a statewide team of educators across four nature centers while also overseeing Hunter and Boater Education programs.

And here’s where his story connects to EVERY leader in the room. 💡
