On Sunday morning, this went up in front of the Sun.

It is the Nancy Grace Roman Space Telescope, and from now on it sends home 1.4 terabytes every single day. NASA says that is the highest data rate of any NASA astrophysics mission so far.

Nobody is going to look at all of that. There is not enough human attention in the world.

So here is NASA's plan, in their own words: machine learning, artificial intelligence, and citizen scientists will help sift through it and flag significant findings.

Citizen scientists. That means a student at a kitchen table is genuinely in the pipeline that finds the next planet.

Roman is three days into a three month trip to a point a million miles out, where it goes looking for dark matter, dark energy and worlds around other stars.

That is the version of AI worth teaching. The one that hands a 14 year old a real share of the search.

Big welcome to the newest member of the STEMAIVERSE family. 🎉

Anthony (Tony) Bammer has joined our board, and we could not be happier about it. Tony has spent his career helping mission-driven organisations find the funding to do the work that matters, from the National CASA/GAL Association for Children through to his own consultancy in Atlanta.

Ours is a hands-on board, and Tony is already in the thick of it, helping steer our grant funding and the partnerships that bring our programs to more students and teachers.

He is based in Atlanta, which means one more friendly face for the schools and communities we want to reach across the Southeast.

Welcome aboard, Tony. Glad to have you with us.

Austin STEM Center officially opened its doors this weekend - and Central Texas just got something special.

We walked through the new facility on Stonehollow yesterday. Professional makerspaces. A real fabrication shop. A humanoid robot in an ASC t-shirt greeting people at the door. Families everywhere, students building things with their hands, food trucks outside.

What stood out honestly wasn’t the equipment. It was the room full of young people who didn’t want to leave.

Their tagline is “Come curious. Leave capable.” After spending an afternoon there, we believe it..

Texas is one of five states with no statewide AI guidance for schools. Fewer than a quarter of districts have written their own. That’s ~1,200 districts figuring it out alone.

At the TIE Forum today, Carol Fletcher shared four recommendations heading to the legislature. The one that stuck: fund teacher PD.

We’ve trained a lot of teachers. The hesitation is fair — but it shifts fast once the pressure comes off and they see something useful inside twenty minutes.

Same with students. Safety and ethics first. Work backwards from the problem with pencil and paper before anyone opens a model.

Understand the problem. Then reach for the tool.

One person. One drawing. A 3D human anatomy explorer you can spin around in a browser.

The developer goes by The Bugged Dev. They built it with three.js and GPT 5.6, and said they had wanted for ages to make something genuinely useful. On Sunday Greg Brockman, the president of OpenAI, shared it. It has passed 830,000 views.

We did not build this. We are just big fans of it, and it is a clean example of what we look for before we start anything of our own:

Skills industry is actually hiring for.
Something a teacher can really use, not just admire.
Something students will open without being asked.

Three out of three.

One Minute Mission, week one. 💜

You are holding your breath right now. What actually forces you to breathe again?

The obvious answer is wrong. Have a go before you look it up, and drop one word in the comments.

We will post the answer tomorrow morning, and there is a reason this one matters more than it sounds, particularly if there is a pool or a beach anywhere in your summer.

Chris Williams came home on Sunday.

241 days off the planet. 3,856 orbits. 102 million miles.

Sit with that middle number for a second, because there is a lesson hiding in it. 3,856 orbits across 241 days works out at about 16 laps of Earth every single day. One sunrise every 45 minutes or so. And to keep that up you have to be moving somewhere near 17,600 miles per hour, the whole time, for eight months straight.

That is the thing about space. You do not need to be a scientist to check it. You need a number, a question, and about ninety seconds.

Here is ours for you. He travelled 102 million miles without going anywhere. How would you explain that to a ten year old?

Nine days ago, Starship counted its engines, found 29 of 33 lit, and stopped its own launch at T-0.

We teach students what AI can do. We rarely teach them what it looks like when a system is built to say no.

Building something that refuses to run is harder than building something that runs.

While you were asleep, students on the other side of the world kept building.

That is how The New Earth Project works. One shared Minecraft world, passed from country to country for 24 hours straight. Students design the habitats, solve the problems and keep each other's work alive.
